Summary
The Wardrobe and Costumes Technician maintains and organizes the costume inventory, collaborates with Theatre faculty, staff, and students, and oversees the wardrobe and costumes for productions in the Theatre program.
Compensation for the PT Technician- Wardrobe & Costumes $17.90 - $20.58 an hour.
Essential Functions

- Evaluate, organize, and maintain existing inventory and coordinate loan, rental, and return of costumes to local organizations.
- Maintain costume shop equipment including sewing machines, surges, steamers, washer and dryer, and supplies for such equipment.
- Supervise and train students assigned to the costume shop and attend to the safety and quality of their work practices.
- Collaborate with Theatre faculty and guest directors and production staff for student shows throughout the year.
- Assist with costume construction for theatre shows, as needed—measure performers, borrow, buy, build, or create needed costumes, and alter accordingly.
- Ready costumes in dressing rooms during run of productions; clean, freshen and repair as needed, and clean and return costumes to inventory upon completion of production.
- Supervise students/volunteers who assist performers with dressing and quick changes as needed.
- Perform related duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and abilities required to satisfactorily perform the essential duties and responsibilities.
- Associate’s degree in a related field.
- Three years of experience in professional theatre costume design or related field.
- Strong multi-tasking, organizational and prioritization skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to establish and maintain cooperative and professional working relationships with others.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field
- Experience working in Higher Education
