Summary
Illinois Central College is seeking a qualified individual with expertise in the area of Personality and Psychopathology (Abnormal Psychology), and the ability to teach Introduction to Psychology. Additional teaching assignments may be available based on qualifications and departmental needs.

Essential Functions

- Prepare syllabi, instruction materials, coordinates lectures, tests, and assessments. Organize courses with practical and technical instruction involving demonstration of the skills required by the industry, lectures on theory, practices, methods, processes, and terminology.
- Teach courses in assigned course and assesses learning outcomes. Instructs students by explaining, demonstrating, and overseeing exercises and providing advice on immediate topics.
- Plan and supervise work of students in the classroom or laboratory setting.
- Seek professional development to remain current with workforce trends, emerging technology, and the latest teaching tools. Maintain professional skills through regular professional development, and other activities appropriate to higher education faculty.
- Collaboratively work with full-time and adjunct faculty members.
- Maintain highest possible standards of classroom instruction.
- Actively serve on college committees.
- Actively participate in institutional meetings. Perform related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and abilities required to satisfactorily perform the essential duties and responsibilities.
- Master's degree in Psychology with expertise in one or several of the following specializations: General/ Introductory level, Abnormal, Developmental, Personality, Sexuality. Teaching experience. Willingness to actively participate in programming and growth of a vibrant program.
Preferred Qualifications
- PhD in Psychology. College teaching experience, preferably at the community college level or an understanding of the mission and values of a 2-year institution.
- Ability to potentially teach in person, on-line, and hybrid classes.
- Expertise in Personality and Psychopathology (Abnormal Psychology).
- Clinical experience within the practice of Psychology.
- Experience working in higher education.
