Job Description:

Summary

The Radiography Program faculty member is primarily responsible for providing instruction and coordinating clinical education in the Associate Degree Radiographer Program. This faculty member is required to assist in the development, evaluation, and teaching of program curriculum; coordination of clinical education; alignment of theory, lab and clinical instruction; evaluation of clinical performance, and advisement of program students.

Essential Functions

  • Maintain highest possible standards of the radiographer program and radiography education.
  • Prepare content lesson plans to adhere to program curricular framework and threaded concepts.
  • Coordinate classroom teaching and learning activities and conduct assessment strategies for assigned class, clinical, and lab.
  • Assess student learning outcomes and evaluate program outcomes.
  • Gather, document, and analyze student clinical assessment results for the program assessment plan.
  • Coordinate, facilitate, and supervise the lab components.
  • Seek professional development to remain current with radiography education, workforce trends, and emerging technology.
  • Maintain skills through professional development, continuing education, and scholarly activities appropriate to higher education and discipline.
  • Collaborate effectively with full-time and adjunct faculty members.
  • Actively serve on college, department, and program committees.
  • Actively participate in student recruitment and academic advisement activities.
  • Support college-wide initiatives and actively participates in organizational meetings.
  • Perform assigned responsibilities during the day, evening and/or weekend on any campus.
  • Perform related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and abilities required to satisfactorily perform the essential duties and responsibilities.

  • Bachelor's degree in related field.
  • Current American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification and registration, or equivalent in radiography.
  • Valid Illinois Medical Radiation accreditation or eligible.
  • Two (2) years of full-time experience in clinical diagnostic radiography.
  • One (1) year of experience as an instructor in a JRCERT accredited program.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analyzing and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organizing and prioritizing skills to meet critical deadlines.
  • Strong multi-tasking and decision-making skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to establish and maintain cooperative and professional working relationships with others.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in related field.
  • ARRT certification and current registration in good standing in Computed Tomography.
  • Membership and participation in state and national professional organizations.
  • One (1) year of experience as an instructor in a radiography program.
  • Experience teaching at a community college.
  • Experience serving the needs of a diverse student population.
