Job Description:

Summary

Illinois Central College is looking for Adjunct Faculty to provide quality teaching and learning within the Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (DMS) Program. This position will also assist with the coordination of learning opportunities to meet standards for learning in one of the following areas of concentration: Abdominal, Obstetrics and Gynecology, and Vascular. This position reports directly to the DMS Program Director.

Essential Functions

1. Collaborate with program director and faculty to develop course syllabus, course calendar, lesson plans, student learning outcomes, supplemental instructional materials, assignments, assessments of learning, and evaluation tools for assigned classroom, laboratory, and clinical units of instruction.

2. Participate in program faculty meetings for evaluating, reviewing, revising and planning curriculum and related learning activities and teaching opportunities.

3. Participate in Departmental and College committees, meetings, activities whenever possible.

4. Keep record of student attendance, academic progress, and grades within Canvas, and provide grading rubrics and timely student feedback.

5. Facilitate student success, in collaboration with the Program Director and program faculty, by assisting with the identification of barriers and resolution of issues, and by referring to access services, academic success, student services, counseling, financial assistance, and other academic resources.

6. Assist and advise with co-curricular or extracurricular student activities as appropriate.

7. Establish and maintain professional relationships and continuous within program, department, college and community to assure student and program success.

8. Maintain effective communication.

9. Provide input into the program’s budgetary process by recommending to program director, capital equipment, materials, and supplies to be included in the program’s annual budget.

10. Enhance knowledge and improve teaching by participating in professional development and continuing education.

11. Schedule may include day, evening, and in person, online, or off-campus instruction.

12. Perform related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and abilities required to satisfactorily perform the essential duties and responsibilities.

1. Earned Associate's Degree.

2. Current documented credential specific to area of concentration and coordination, i.e.: Abdominal, Obstetrics and Gynecology, and Vascular.

3. Two years’ clinical experience as registered sonographer in professional sonography field, specific to area of concentration and coordination.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Earned Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Sonography or related healthcare field.
2. More than two years’ clinical experience within concentrated areas in professional sonography.
3. Experience in supervision, instruction, evaluation, student guidance, educational theories, and educational techniques.
4. Community college experience.
5. Ability to serve the needs of a diverse population of students.
