Summary
Illinois Central College is seeking a qualified individual to provide lecture and laboratory instruction and student support activities for the existing Welding Technology programs.

Essential Functions

1. Provide welding students with appropriate college-level instruction and hands-on experiences that allow them to advance through certificate or associate of applied science degree programs in Welding Technology.
2. Organize courses of practical and technical instruction including the demonstration of the skills required by the industry, lectures on safety, theory, practices, methods, processes and terminology.
3. Instruct students in the areas of welding processes, blueprint reading, metrology, manufacturing processes and related topics.
4. Teach day, evening, and/or weekend classes, as needed.
5. Plan and supervise the work of students in the classroom and laboratories.
6. Inspect and assess welds and projects produced by students.
7. Evaluate the progress of students’ technical knowledge and skills.
8. Assist in ordering equipment and supplies for instruction.
9. Work with other welding faculty to maintain, revise, and assess the curriculum and program.
10. Meet with corporate partners, advisory council members, and other colleagues to develop new curriculum to improve courses or add to existing programs.
11. Follow College corporate procedures, rules, and regulations for safe operation and practice.
12. Ensure the equipment functions safely, properly, and meets requirements.
13. Be able to work on a team with full-time adjunct faculty and staff members.
14. Perform related duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and abilities required to satisfactorily perform the essential duties and responsibilities.
1. Minimum of 4,000 hours of work experience as a welder, welding instructor, or fabricator and successful completion of appropriate ICC proficiency test.
2. Ability to instruct students by explaining, demonstrating and overseeing their exercises and giving advice on the immediate topic.
3. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
4. Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to establish and maintain cooperative and professional working relationships with others.

Preferred Qualifications
1. Five years’ experience in teaching welding.
2. Two years’ experience teaching welding at the college level.
