SUMMARY
The Truck Driver Training Program Instructor is primarily responsible for providing an educational experience enabling students to learn and exhibit the safe operation of semi-trailer trucks through the use of classroom instruction, behind the wheel training and actual driving performance on the road and in the yard. Part-time trainers will be expected to spend most instructional time in the yard and on the road with students.
Compensation for the PT Instructor is $23.40- $26.91 an hour. This position is required to work during the evenings.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES

1. Facilitate truck driver training program lessons.
2. Communicate and demonstrate truck driving skills and abilities to students.
3. Use evaluation instruments designed to measure course objectives.
4. Drive, inspect and clean trucks periodically.
5. Recommend service for trucks when needed.
6. Perform related duties as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and abilities required to satisfactorily perform the essential duties and responsibilities.
1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Active/valid Class A CDL license with acceptable driving record.
3. Pass DOT physical and drug screen.
4. At least 2 years of truck driving experience.
5. Knowledge of mechanical aspects of tractor/trailers and DOT rules and regulations.
6. Ability to relate to students to assist them to increase retention and student success.
7. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
8. Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to establish and maintain cooperative and professional working relationships with others.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
1. Ability to tailor teaching style to individual students.
2. 5 or more years of experience as a driver.
3. Experience instructing or Training CDL.
4. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
