Job Description:

Summary

The Fitness Center Coordinator is primarily responsible for assisting the Fitness Center Manager by implementing overall business operations at the CougarPlex Facility. The coordinator assists with coordination of Wellness Program.

Compensation for the Fitness Center Coordinator is $20.72-$23.82 per hour.

Essential Functions

1. Coordinate operations held at the CougarPlex Fitness Center, in the absence of or in coordination with the Fitness Center Manager. This includes operations in the Fitness Center, Front Desk and Group Fitness areas.

2. Coordinate maintenance of machines/weights/equipment in Fitness Center and Group Fitness rooms, including a cleaning schedule and staff training competencies on all equipment.

3. Assist manager with overseeing the operation of the smoothie bar including, but not limited to, inventory management, staff training, and maintenance of all health department standards.

4. Assist manager with developing and implementing marketing plans, program development and launches, incentives, orientations and other special events for the Group Fitness program, Fitness Center, and wellness program.

5. Lead, train, and develop a team of personal trainers to ensure they deliver high quality instruction.

6. Utilize online tools to coordinate proper resourcing of projects and work to be completed.

7. Create and maintain fitness center attendant schedules using scheduling software. Serve as a central point of communication for schedule changes.

8. Recruit staff, instructors and trainers who qualify to provide excellent customer service. Handle performance corrections and coaching as necessary.

9. Assist manager of the Wellness Program by organizing meetings, projects and implementation of projects for the Wellness of all ICC Employees. Also involved with non-credit programs with the Professional Development Institute.

10. Facilitate events to be hosted here at the CougarPlex, including community events.

11. Maintain a collaborative relationship with organizations and agencies in the community that may utilize our facility.

12. Assist manager with maintaining high levels of customer care at the CougarPlex.

13. Assist manager with fiscal responsibility of the Fitness Center, Group Fitness and Wellness programs.

14. Perform related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and abilities required to satisfactorily perform the essential duties and responsibilities.

1. Bachelor's degree with 1 year of direct work experience in a Fitness Center environment including experience as a Group Fitness instructor or Personal Trainer and experience coordinating and scheduling classes, programs, and/or activities; OR Associate's degree with 3 years of work experience in a Fitness Center environment; OR 5 years of direct work experience in a Fitness Center environment.

2. Personal training certification or group fitness certification from ACE, ACSM, AFAA, or NSCA.

3. Current First Aid and CPR/AED certifications and Food Handler's certifications or the ability to complete certification within two weeks of hire.

4. Experience with utilizing Microsoft Office Software.

5. Strong organizational and prioritization skills.

6. Strong conflict resolution and problem-solving skills.

7. Strong verbal and written communication skills.

8. Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to establish and maintain cooperative and professional working relationships with others.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Knowledge of fitness and physical education principles and practices.

2. Experience with budgeting.

3. Experience or knowledge of athletic programs.

4. One to three years of management and leadership experience.

5. Community health, population health and worksite Athletic programs

6. Prior experience as a member or leader of a college organization.

7. Experience in a health-related field.
