Summary

The Early College Lead Coordinator is primarily responsible for coordinating dual credit classes at area high schools and online, which includes formal agreements with school districts to allow high school students to attend classes at an ICC campus during the school day and to ensure that dual credit is administered by guidelines established by the Illinois Community College Board and the Higher Learning Commission.?

Essential Functions

  1. Coordinate the offering of dual credit classes at area high schools with academic departments, student accounting, enrollment services, and scheduling to develop a master list documenting all Early College offerings each semester. Manage Early College Planning agreements; document and submit new dual credit course offerings; track courses in the master schedule.
  2. Calculate and submit invoices each semester for dual credit costs for all Districts #514 high schools.
  3. Communicate through email, phone, and mailings with students, schools, and all partners who support the processes for scheduling academic classes, enrolling, advising, and testing students, and providing student services.
  4. Work closely with other ICC departments to ensure the needs of the high schools and students are met and barriers are eliminated, such as social/emotional needs and financial difficulties.
  5. Coordinate the student enrollment process and other supportive services included in the program in accordance with college policies and procedures.
  6. Assist Early College students with transitioning to becoming an ICC college student by educating them about college policies and procedures.
  7. Assist in facilitating orientations for early college students- including but not limited to CTE/work-based learning students and strong start students.
  8. Assist and attend in planning high school informational meetings, student orientations, workshops, and enrollment sessions, but not limited to dual degree programs.
  9. Qualify and document students’ prerequisites and coordinate with high school counselors on transcript evaluations to eliminate barriers to enrollment.
  10. Advise Early College students who come to an ICC campus during the day by helping them set up schedules, referring them to academic departments as needed, and following program of study plans
  11. Manage FERPA permissions for Early College students and consult with high school counselors, parents, faculty, and staff regarding student concerns.
  12. Coordinate and communicate advising with high school counselors, academic affairs deans, and early college adjunct faculty to ensure dual enrollment coursework requirements fulfill high school and Illinois Central College degree requirements.
  13. Co-develop and submit semester data reports on each high school's enrollment, credit hours, and trends.
  14. Support Early College instructors in meeting college deadlines for AWARE and final grade rosters.
  15. Disseminate professional development and ICC information to all Early College instructors in collaboration with Academic Affairs Deans.
  16. Adhere to dual credit guidelines, the Dual Credit Quality Act established by the Illinois Community College Board and the Higher Learning Commission, and communicate these guidelines to the high schools, ICC Academic Affairs department, and Academic Deans.
  17. Maintain effective, professional, open communication with the Dean of College and Career Readiness and the Vice President of Workforce and Diversity.
  18. Keep the Dean of College and Career Readiness abreast of any Early College concerns that may arise; in addition, keep the Academic Affairs Deans and Vice President of Academic Affairs abreast of any concerns about the qualifications of dual credit instructors who desire to teach dual credit courses.
  19. Communicate effectively and work in collaboration and accordance with the Early College Assistant Coordinator.
  20. Attend ILACEP/ NACEP conferences and workshops and maintain membership in ILACEP, NACEP, and NACADA per professional development growth.
  21. Ability to be flexible and adapt to Early College change due to ICC policies and procedures that are best for the college.
  22. Contribute to the overall success of Illinois Central College by performing these duties in a manner consistent with the mission, goals, values, and priorities of the College.
  23. Perform related duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and abilities required to satisfactorily perform the essential duties and responsibilities.

  1. Bachelor’s Degree.
  2. Minimum of 3 years of coordination or administrative experience.
  3. Minimum of 3 years of Community College experience.
  4. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, computer databases and other related software.
  5. Ability to maintain and keep confidential information.
  6. Strong verbal/written communication skills with strong presentation skills.
  7. Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to establish and maintain cooperative and professional working relationships with others.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Master's Degree in higher education administration, college student affairs, counseling.
  2. Three years experience of coordinating efforts among multiple high schools and/or districts.
  3. Experience with enrollment processes.
  4. PeopleSoft experience.
  5. Experience with dual enrollment databases.
  6. Two to three years of community college work experience and/or experience working with high school students, parents, and staff.
