About the role
As a director, you will convey the AI strategy harmonized with enterprise and business strategy, lead data- and insights-driven Strategy Advancement, and activate cross-functional initiatives that transform how Humana uses AI to improve member experience, productivity, and operational performance.
What you’ll do
Strategy & Governance
- Evangelize AI strategy and harmonize it with enterprise and business strategy in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Curate content and build compelling executive reporting and presentations to share progress and innovation from the AI portfolio.
- Lead initiatives to analyze complex business problems using internal and external data, producing recommendations and strategic roadmaps that deliver measurable outcomes.
- Ensure AI policies, procedures, and operating models align with corporate vision and support large-scale programs and platform transformations.
- Provide input to functional strategy; make decisions related to the implementation of new/updated programs and large-scale projects across IT and the business.
- Track delivery health of AI initiatives through various forums such as quarterly business reviews, and delivery health dashboard.
AI Strategy & Responsible Innovation
- Drive Humana’s AI strategy—from use case portfolio and value realization to responsible AI governance (fairness, transparency, privacy, security, bias mitigation, monitoring).
- Partner with business and technology teams to establish AI standards (model lifecycle, MLOps, evaluation, human-in-the-loop controls) and enable safe, compliant deployment across care, service, operations, and finance.
- Build AI literacy for leaders and associates through teaching and coaching; help teams adopt GenAI and predictive/ML capabilities for real workflows (e.g., member service, care management, utilization management, claims, provider operations).
- Lead a team of associates charged with accelerating AI initiative deliver both safe and responsibly
Leadership & Activation
- Deliver executive-level presentations that frame AI strategy, successes opportunities, and roadmaps to outcomes.
- Activate strategies by engaging business and technology leaders, and tracking AI initiative delivery health throughout the AI governance lifecycle.
- Select, develop, and evaluate talent; manage direct team members in IT Strategy and indirect team members via enterprise partnerships.
- Inspire associates to embrace and advance IT’s strategy through teaching and coaching that demystifies technology and AI.
Outcomes & Measurement
- Define success metrics for each strategy (experience, quality, affordability, productivity, compliance).
- Track and communicate progress with data storytelling, dashboards, and executive-ready artifacts.
- Improve performance by implementing strategic plans and driving goals and objectives to completion.
Use your skills to make an impact
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of technical experience (e.g., data, analytics, cloud, platforms, AI/ML, enterprise technology).
- 5+ years of management experience, including talent development and cross-functional leadership.
- Progressive experience with a top management consulting firm (or equivalent internal strategy leadership), working with executives, senior leaders, and subject-matter experts.
- 6–10 years in corporate, business, and/or IT strategy, with a track record of activating strategy into execution.
- Skilled in strategy tools: presentations, documents, and data spreadsheets; strong data literacy and executive communication.
- Passionate about continuously improving consumer and stakeholder experiences.
- Readiness to work mostly East Coast hours.
Preferred Qualifications
- AI/ML knowledge (e.g., LLMs/GenAI adoption, MLOps, model governance, responsible AI, model risk management).
- Technology and/or digital transformation experience with large-scale platforms or operating-model change.
- Health insurance, provider, or integrated healthcare experience; familiarity with HIPAA, CMS guidance, and state regulations relevant to data and AI.
- Experience in large organizations and matrixed environments.
- Business analytics and/or financial acumen (P&L, ROI, portfolio management).
- Post-secondary credentials (e.g., MBA, MS in Analytics/CS/HI) and/or certifications (e.g., change management, Lean/Agile) are a plus.

Remote/WAH requirements:
- WAH requirements: Must have the ability to provide a high speed DSL or cable modem for a home office. Associates or contractors who live and work from home in the state of California will be provided payment for their internet expense.
- A minimum standard speed for optimal performance of 25x10 (25mpbs download x 10mpbs upload) is required.
- Satellite and Wireless Internet service is NOT allowed for this role.
- A dedicated space lacking ongoing interruptions to protect member PHI / HIPAA information

The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.
