Humana is seeking a strategic and technically skilled Senior Product Owner to lead the definition, planning, and execution of AI capabilities within our Enterprise Unified API Catalog. This role is focused on driving the strategy, requirements, and delivery of intelligent features that enhance developer experience, API discoverability, and automation across Humana’s API ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities:
AI Strategy & Vision: Define and drive the strategic roadmap for integrating AI into Humana’s Unified API Catalog, focusing on intelligent metadata enrichment, contextual API recommendations, and developer enablement.
Requirements Definition: Collaborate with engineering, architecture, and data science teams to translate business needs into clear, actionable product requirements for AI-powered API capabilities.
Customer-Centric Design: Apply design thinking and a customer-first mindset to ensure AI features are intuitive, valuable, and aligned with developer workflows.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with internal product owners, developers, and business stakeholders to gather use cases, validate requirements, and ensure alignment across teams.
Industry Awareness: Stay informed on emerging trends in AI and API technologies to influence Humana’s internal strategy and ensure adoption of modern frameworks and standards.
Evangelism & Enablement: Promote the value of AI-enhanced APIs across the organization, driving adoption and consistency in how APIs are designed, documented, and consumed.
Developer Experience: Ensure APIs are accessible and usable by external developers, including those without deep domain expertise, through intelligent tooling and contextual guidance.
Standards & Governance: Contribute to the definition of common API standards and practices that support scalable, secure, and consistent API development across teams.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and relevant work experience in lieu of degree requirement.
5+ years of technical HANDS-ON experience.
Proven experience in technical product ownership with a focus on AI, APIs, and developer platforms.
Strong understanding of AI technologies and their application in enhancing API products and developer experiences.
Familiarity with API design principles, including REST, GraphQL, authentication mechanisms, and contract management.
Experience working in cross-functional teams and driving alignment across technical and business stakeholders.
Ability to lead multiple complex initiatives simultaneously and manage competing priorities effectively.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
**The ideal candidate will reside in or near the DC Baltimore, MD or Louisville, KY areas.**
Experience with API management platforms and developer portals.
Knowledge of machine learning, natural language processing, or recommendation systems.
Understanding of healthcare interoperability standards (e.g., FHIR, HL7).
Experience with agile methodologies and product lifecycle management.
Background in healthcare or experience working with healthcare data is a plus

WAH requirements: Must have the ability to provide a high-speed DSL or cable modem for a home office. Associates or contractors who live and work from home in the state of California will be provided payment for their internet expense.

The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.
