Against that backdrop, due to a promotion we are seeking a strategic, accomplished Talent Acquisition leader to join our team as the Head of Talent Acquisition, for our CenterWell Senior Primary Care Organization (PCO). The PCO, including CenterWell and Conviva, delivers care to approximately 300,000 patients from many different Medicare Advantage health plans, and is the largest provider of senior-focused primary care in the country. Across these two brands, the PCO operates over 300 centers across the United States, and expects to rapidly grow to north of 500 centers by the end of 2029.

In this role, you will be responsible for leading the Talent Acquisition Clinical and Operational strategy, for $4 Billion enterprise. In this matrix role, you will be part of the PCO HR, and the Humana TA leadership teams and will be aligned to, and working closely with the Divisional, and Market Presidents and other key leaders.

He/she will have 4+ direct reports, and 50+ team members and will have a matrix reporting relationship to the Head of HR for the PCO, and Talent Acquisition Associate Vice President. This position can be work-at-home/remote, but up to 10% of travel is expected.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the PCO TA strategy working closely with the operational Divisional and Market Presidents.
  • Build strong, credible relationships with PCO senior executives and leaders, and act as a trusted advisor and subject matter expert
  • Partner closely with the Merger and Acquisition team to develop strategies that support continued growth
  • Lead the clinical team to partner closely with the Chief Medical Officer on best practices in hiring of providers and other key clinical talent roles
  • Continuous development of talent acquisition team driving process efficiencies
  • Work collaboratively with the various functional department heads on workforce planning, marketing, compensation alignment and communications
  • Build and lead the PCO recruitment social media strategy
  • Use influence to raise the aligned business segment’s collective knowledge on talent acquisition
  • Communicate knowledge of proven and emerging best practices to business leaders, hiring manager and recruiters
  • Applies financial, data analysis, and advanced technical knowledge to forecast and analyze departmental needs and create long-term goals
  • Manage recruitment budget


Use your skills to make an impact

The ideal candidate will have extensive talent acquisition experience (typically 10+ years) working within a primary care, healthcare, or in the life sciences industries, along with several years (typically 5+ years) managing managers with teams across dispersed locations as well as groups working remotely.In addition, this person will have a record of success working with senior leaders across an organization to improve existing programs and develop innovative sourcing and recruiting strategies.Bachelor’s degree is required

In addition to the above, the following professional qualifications and personal attributes are also sought:

  • Current or recent experience recruiting for and/or leading physicians and advanced practice providers recruiting teams.
  • Experience leading people leaders in a matrixed environment with team size over 25 associates
  • Proven expertise in developing and delivering key recruiting programs, innovative sourcing techniques, social media strategy, competitive market intel, etc., all in a multi-state, multi-site environment.
  • Proven experience building new pipeline sources for clinician talent (i.e., residency and nurse recruiting programs)
  • Experience supporting M&A activity
  • Broad HR experience in functional areas such as workforce planning, analytics, compensation, talent management, organization design, diversity/inclusion, etc.; executive search firm experience is a plus
  • Proven ability to collaborate with and influence executive leaders and key stakeholders to adopt and participate in strategic change initiatives with experience in a large, highly matrixed company
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills, including the polish, poise, and executive presence that will ensure effective interaction with senior and executive level audiences
  • Comprehensive knowledge of all Microsoft Office applications and working knowledge of applicant tracking systems, brand management, recruiting analytics, and vendor management. Workday experience is a plus.
  • A record of success in managing change in a fast-paced, startup environment by leading and energizing others, modeling adaptability, and inspiring strong organizational performance through periods of transformation, ambiguity, and complexity
  • Passion for staying up to date with the latest TA trends and best practices, with expertise in healthcare and provider recruitment
  • A record of success in attracting, developing, and motivating top talent from inside and outside of the organization, and preparing direct reports for expanded responsibilities
Travel: While this is a remote position, occasional travel to Humana's offices for training or meetings may be required.

Pay Range

The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.


$150,000 - $206,300 per year


This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan. This incentive opportunity is based upon company and/or individual performance.
