Humana is evolving its marketing organization to better acquire and engage members through data-driven, technology-enabled, and personalized communications and the creative and content produced by the in-house agency team known as the Hive, is a vital part of this transformation.

As the Manager of the Copywriting Team, you will play a dual role as both a team leader and hands-on contributor of written marketing content for the Humana Inc. brand portfolio and customer lifecycle marketing (CLM) campaigns, across all media.

As the copy team leader, you will ensure effective resource management, alignment with organizational goals and brand standards, establish and demonstrate best practices to ensure consistent quality across all channels, identify opportunities for process efficiency, and support ongoing professional development for team members.

As a copywriter, this position demands a deep understanding of brand strategy, advanced writing skills, and business acumen to develop content that supports key marketing objectives. You will utilize data analysis to inform creative decisions and leverage GenAI technology to develop creative concepts and content personalization.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of copywriters, fostering creativity and professional growth

  • Establish, implement and monitor writing and editorial best practices across all media

  • Assign skills to projects and monitor progress to ensure timely delivery and quality standards

  • Foster a collaborative creative culture, provide constructive critique and guidance to copywriters to elevate writing effectiveness and consumer engagement

  • Review and approve copy concepts for brand consistency and alignment with strategic brief

  • Translate objectives defined in a strategic brief into a broad range of compelling copy concepts for integrated marketing campaigns

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop campaign concepts and messaging strategies for all media including email, web, direct mail, OOH, print, SMS, social, and video

  • Leverage technology and GenAI to generate concepts, adapt creative controls, and accelerate content delivery

  • Work in an agile flex model and capable of executing work at any stage of the creative development process

  • Present creative work, articulating strategic rationale behind creative choices

  • Integrate stakeholder feedback to advance creative solutions

  • Manage multiple complex projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and maintaining high-quality standards

  • Stay informed on industry trends and best practices for advertising, digital marketing and copywriting

Success in this role will be measured by your ability to collaborate cross-functionally, elevate the work and deliver compelling, brand-aligned content that drives results, while fostering a culture of creativity, accountability, and continuous improvement

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Marketing, Communications, or related field

  • Portfolio must be submitted with application to be considered (i.e. link to website or PDF portfolio)

  • 2+ years of management or supervisory experience

  • 6+ years of professional copywriting experience in an agency environment

  • Industry competitive portfolio that demonstrates advanced skills developing a broad range of creative concepts and powerful headlines against a strategic brief

  • 3+ years of experience developing content for digital channels including email, web, and social media

  • Proven ability to independently advance the creative development process, from low-fidelity prototyping concepts through final production, across a broad range of media

  • Advanced communication skills and ability to deliver a persuasive creative presentation

  • Proficiency with creative collaboration tools including Lucid and Figma

  • Familiar with GenAI copy tools including Jasper and experience developing brand aware writing prompts

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in healthcare, insurance or regulated industries

  • Experience developing copy assets for content delivery platforms including Adobe AJO/AXP

  • Experience with video storytelling and production process

  • Experience with Agile methodologies and operating models

  • Agency located in Louisville, KY but qualified applicants will be considered for remote work

  • Occasional travel may be required

Pay Range

The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.


$94,900 - $130,500 per year


This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan. This incentive opportunity is based upon company and/or individual performance.
