The Senior Quality Improvement Professional implements quality improvement programs for all lines of business including annual program description, work plan, and annual evaluation. The Senior Quality Improvement Professional work assignments involve moderately complex to complex issues where the analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors.

The Senior Quality Improvement Professional monitors quality investigations and compliance processes. Manages quality management system, department SharePoint, and department reporting. Audits processes as needed for compliance. Completes and submits reports to CMS and state regulators as required for clinical studies. Begins to influence department’s strategy. Makes decisions on moderately complex to complex issues regarding technical approach for project components, and work is performed without direction. Exercises considerable latitude in determining objectives and approaches to assignments.

Required Qualifications

Must meet one of the following requirements:

  • Certified Professional in Health Care Quality (CPHQ)

  • Certified Health Care Quality Management (CHCQM)

  • Or Comparable education and experience in data and outcomes measurement – equivalent to 4 years of experience (as described in 42 C.F.R. §§438.200–438.242)

Must meet ALL of the following requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or 4 or more years of equivalent experience
  • Prior experience in a fast-paced insurance or health care setting
  • Understanding of healthcare quality measures STARS, HEDIS, etc.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft product suite
  • Proven analytical skills
  • Must be available to report to the Market office for occasional meetings

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPHQ

  • Knowledge of Humana's internal policies, procedures and systems

  • Experience in provider relations and education

  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written

  • Strong relationship building skills

  • Knowledge of QI methodologies (i.e. IHI model of improvement)

  • Familiarity with QI Tools (such as PDSA cycles, Key Driver Diagrams, workflows mapping, root cause analysis)

Additional Information

  • Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM with flexibility to work overtime as needed.

  • Travel Requirements: 10-20% to attend provider and state meetings as necessary

Work At Home Requirements

  • Satellite, cellular and microwave connection can be used only if approved by leadership.

  • Employees who live and work from Home in the state of California, Illinois, Montana, or South Dakota will be provided a bi-weekly payment for their internet expense.

  • Humana will provide Home or Hybrid Home/Office employees with telephone equipment appropriate to meet the business requirements for their position/job.

  • Work from a dedicated space lacking ongoing interruptions to protect member PHI / HIPAA information.

Pay Range

The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.


$78,400 - $107,800 per year


This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan. This incentive opportunity is based upon company and/or individual performance.
