Morton Community Bank is the largest privately-owned bank in Central Illinois with over 50 branch locations and more than 550 employees. We are dedicated to our customers and to supporting and growing our local communities.

Our internship program will provide students with in-depth exposure to the inner workings of our lending and credit functions. Interns will be trained to perform real work in our credit area and will gain knowledge on how credit decisions are analyzed and how risk is assessed for commercial loans made to a variety of industries and customers.

Interns will work on-site at 201 Clock Tower Drive in East Peoria, IL location, which serves as the hub of our commercial lending function. Throughout the internship, interns will have the opportunity to interact with members of our credit analysis and loan review teams as well as commercial lenders and members of senior management. Students will enjoy the teamwork and comradery that comes from working together to support our local businesses and helping to grow our Central Illinois economy.

Purpose: To provide motivated college students the opportunity to learn and work in the credit area of a growing commercial bank. This internship is designed for the student who is serious about pursuing a career in banking in Central Illinois after graduation.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Reviewing customer financial statements, tax returns, and loan documents
  • Analyzing customer information and drafting written credit analysis presentations
  • Giving presentations on credit analysis to bank management
  • Attending loan related meetings and discussions

Requirements/Qualifications:

  • College students who will have completed their sophomore or junior year with an anticipated 2026 or 2027 graduation date
  • Majoring in finance, accounting, economics, or business-related fields
  • Minimum GPA: 3.0
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Detail-oriented and confident in a professional office environment
  • Trustworthy in dealing with confidential information
  • Interested in living and working in Central Illinois after graduation

Program Details:

  • Summer 2025 (~10-week program), Mid-May to Mid-August, 2025, dates are flexible
  • If interested, the possibility of continuing with part-time work during the following school year
  • Paid internship: $20.00/hour, 40-hour work week
