RESPONSIBILITIES
- Operating and maintaining high-pressure boilers, including starting up and shutting down the boiler, monitoring boiler performance, and adjusting controls as needed to maintain safe and efficient operation.

- Performing routine inspections on boilers, including cleaning, lubricating, and troubleshooting problems to identify and resolve issues.
- Monitoring and recording boiler and water performance data, such as temperature, pressure, and water hardiness, and reporting any abnormalities or concerns to supervisors or maintenance staff.
- Operating the well water system, including softener system, reverse
- osmosis system, fire protection, plant wells, and domestic water
- Maintaining a clean and organized boiler room, including storing and handling fuel, chemicals, and other hazardous materials in accordance with safety guidelines.
- Performs manual blowdown of Boilers, Sight Glasses, and orifice taps leg lines
- Checks wells and test water supply interpreting results before taking appropriate remedial action
- Perform routine lubrication of equipment and perform semi-skilled equipment maintenance tasks and/or assist maintenance personnel on repairs.
- Prepares required permits – Lock out/tag out, Flange breaking permits, Confined space permits, Hot work permits
- Cleans and prepares equipment for maintenance or extended outages; involves Management in cases requiring securing outside contractor resources
REQUIREMENTS
- High School Education or equivalent
- Previous work experience that includes broad exposure to full-scale Boiler Operations including experience with variable sources of fuel (natural gas, oil, and waste oil).
- Hands-on experience troubleshooting Boiler equipment with an appropriate level of mechanical/electrical aptitude.
- Licensed Boiler Engineer (Class 1 or Class 2) certification is highly desirable.
- Computer, Microsoft Office products, standard tools, lab equipment.
- Requires adequate physical strength to perform the essential job tasks (EX: ability to lift 50 pounds without mechanical assistance).
- Requires working outdoors with occasional exposure to weather and temperature extremes.
- Exposure to prolonged physical activity (EX: 12-hour shifts).
