Job Summary
The Facility Engineering Supervisor (FES) role involves making rounds and being the first responder to issues that arise. The FES also contributes to all aspects of the oversight and monitoring of building operations including adjustments to the mechanical systems (Direct Evaporate Cooling:DEC, Roof Top Unit:RTU), electrical systems (SWBD,UPS, STS, PDU), BMS, emergency generators and fire/life safety systems. The FES will maintain mission critical facilities with coordination of each maintenance vender. The FES will also be responsible for first response troubleshooting and repair of equipment, systems independently and reporting.
Duties and responsibilities:
· Oversee the day-to-day operations and maintenance of mechanical and electrical equipment in a data center.
· Supervise on-site maintenance work.
· Support reporting and administrative response to local administration including Fire department, Department of Ecology, utility power company.
· Support facility manager to manage projects effectively/ Operate independently.
· Act as an escalation point for all facilities-related issues within the data center.
· Perform root cause analysis of equipment failures.
· Troubleshoot and report of facility system events.
· Ensure all EHS procedures are adhered to by all vendors and EEC staff.
· Must be able to comprehend, analyze and interpret complex project documents, including AutoCAD, Visio and PDF documents.
· Respond effectively, verbally and in writing, to sensitive issues, complex inquiries or complaints.
· Must have a high level of commitment to customer service to both co-workers and clients.
· Supervise technicians and engineers.
Qualifications:
· Junior level experience in mission critical facilities operating / engineering, including experience with mission critical infrastructure (UPS,HCAC,CRAC,ATS,STS, generators, fire/life safety systems).
· Expert, hands-on electrical or mechanical skill and competence in the area of non-expertise (for example, electrical expertise with mechanical competence, or vice-versa).
· Highly effective in oral and written communication with an ability to communicate with people of varying technical abilities.
· Demonstrates good judgment and confidence to select appropriate approach and take full responsibility for end results
· Strong understanding of power and cooling infrastructure
· Understanding of network layer design concepts.
· Electrical, HVAC and / or mechanical licenses.
· Experience writing technical methods of procedure.
· Change management experience.
· Experience with incident reporting.
