CITY RESIDENCY REQUIRED

DEPARTMENT: FINANCE / ACCOUNTS RECEIVABLE DIVISION

LOCATION: City Hall, 419 Fulton Street, Room 111

HOURS: 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday

Responsible for performing customer service, utility billing, account adjustments and customer assistance for the storm-water fees, garbage collection fees, general billing, and issuance of licenses and registrations.

EMPLOYEE’S MUST RESIDE WITHIN THE CITY OF PEORIA. AN EMPLOYEE’S UNAUTHORIZED RESIDENCY OUTSIDE THE CITY OF PEORIA SHALL BE GROUNDS FOR IMMEDIATE TERMINATION.

Examples of Duties

  • Processes business licenses and renewals as well as public event permits.
  • Processes non-owner-occupied registration and renewals.
  • Processes bill runs, delinquency notices and bill adjustments for Stormwater and Public Safety Pension fees.
  • Processes parking tickets, preparing reports and documentation for litigation involving parking tickets.
  • Maintains filing system.
  • Provides assistance to other functions in the department.
Performs general clerical duties.
Provides superior customer service by:
  • Assisting customers by answering phone calls and in-person inquiries regarding a variety of issues.
  • Composing emails or other correspondence on job-related issues.
  • Interpreting and explaining job-related policies, procedures and laws.
  • Updating taxpayer information via electronic and written records.
  • Processing Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests.
Sending correspondence to taxpayers regarding outstanding invoices or information.

Minimum Qualifications

Supplemental Information

Customer service skills are necessary. Knowledge of basic mathematical and statistical computations, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages and ratios and principles and practices of basic accounting. Skill in applying accounting procedures to financial operations and communicating clearly and effectively, orally and in writing both internally and with the public.
