Vehicle Maintenance Mechanic

The City of East Peoria is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Vehicle Mechanic at its Public Works Facility.
This union position is responsible for maintaining and repairing the City's fleet of vehicles and equipment, including heavy trucks, construction equipment, and emergency response apparatus. Duties include diagnostics, repairs, preventive maintenance, welding and fabrication, and emergency field repairs to support City operations.
Qualified candidates must possess a high school diploma or GED, a minimum of four (4) years of related experience, and an Illinois Class B CDL with air brake endorsement at the time of hire. Applicants must reside within twenty-five (25) miles of the East Peoria corporate limits and be available for emergency call-outs related to equipment breakdowns, snow and ice operations, and other public works emergencies.
A conditional offer of employment is contingent upon successful completion of a DOT physical examination, functional capacity/lift assessment, drug screening, and comprehensive background check.
This is a full-time, non-exempt position with a starting pay rate of $42.27 per hour. East Peoria is a full-service community offering comprehensive benefits.
