EXPERIENCED POLICE OFFICER

FOR THE CITY OF EAST PEORIA, ILLINOIS

NOTICE TO APPLICANTS FOR SECONDARY LIST FOR POLICE OFFICER.

Online applications for employment will be available at www.cityofeastpeoria.com/jobs starting on Monday, March 16, 2026. They must be completed and submitted through the city’s website by 11:59 P.M. Saturday, April 11, 2026.

Paper applications will be available at East Peoria City Hall, 401 West Washington St. starting on Monday, March 16, 2026. They must be mailed to the East Peoria Fire & Police Commission at 401 W Washington St., East Peoria, Illinois 61611 and postmarked no later than 11:59 P.M. Saturday, April 11, 2026.

NO LATE APPLICATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED.

APPLICANTS MUST:

  1. Be a certified Officer by the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board.
  2. Must be currently employed as a full-time sworn Law Enforcement Officer by a Municipal, County, State or University Law Enforcement Agency with a minimum of (24) twenty-four months of service with their current police agency.
  3. Have the ability to Pass a Written Examination, Physical Aptitude Test (250-yard agility course), Oral Interview, Background Investigation, Polygraph Examination, and Psychological Examination.
  4. Pass a Medical Examination upon an offer of employment.
  5. Have a valid driver’s license.
  6. Understand all applicants are subject to the rules and regulations of the Board of Fire & Police Commission.

THE FOLLOWING FORMS MUST BE COMPLETED AND RETURNED WITH YOUR COMPLETED APPLICATION:

  1. Authorization for Release of Information.
  2. Acknowledgement/Consent for Background and Credit History.
  3. Authorization to Take Specimen for Drug Screening Release.
  4. Release of All Liability.
  5. Agreement to Bring Required Documents to Mandatory Orientation.

FAILURE TO PROVIDE ALL THE REQUIRED INFORMATION AND DOCUMENTATION WITH YOUR APPLICATION WILL RESULT IN THE REJECTION OF YOUR APPLICATION.

THE MANDATORY ORIENTATION WILL BEGIN SATURDAY, APRIL 18, 2026, AT 8:00 A.M. AT THE FONDULAC PARK POLICE DEPARTMENT, 305 SPRINGFIELD ROAD, EAST PEORIA, IL 61611. THE MANDATORY PHYSICAL APTITUDE TEST (250-YARD AGILITY COURSE) WILL IMMEDIATELY FOLLOW THE ORIENTATION. THE WRITTEN TEST WILL FOLLOW AT THE CONCLUSION OF THE PHYSICAL APTITUDE TEST. A DRIVER’S LICENSE OR PHOTO I.D. IS REQUIRED FOR ALL PHASES OF TESTING.

PROOF OF A VALID SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER WILL BE REQUIRED DURING THE BACKGROUND CHECK PROCESS.
