About the position:
This position involves all aspects of preparing, cooking and cleaning up meals for our Residential Youth Farm location and Kiefer School. This position may include weekends and some holidays, as well as some special events. This position also requires lifting, being on your feet a majority of the day, and client and agency staff contact on a daily basis.
Job Function:
Prepares food for clients and meetings; maintains cleanliness and sanitation of food service area.
Job Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Ability to read, write and follow oral and written directions
- Food Handlers/Food Managers Certification and previous food service experience preferred
- Ability to work cooperatively with others
- Alertness, accuracy and dexterity to handle and maintain equipment efficiently and safely
- Ability to exercise good judgment and initiative in preparing food and maintaining efficient and sanitary standards of operation
- Ability to organize time efficiently to meet deadlines
- Ability to work independently
- Flexible in schedule in order to work shifts as needed, demonstrates maturity and sensitivity to cultural and individual differences in children, staff and families served
- Speaking and hearing ability to allow for effective oral and written communication of information
- Ability to transport self to other agency locations and to pick needed supplies
- Emotional stamina to handle job-related stress
- Ability to stand and walk most of the working day
- Physical strength and dexterity to stoop for, reach for and lift Litton equipment and supplies and push and pull carts
- Physical ability to sweep, mop and/or scrub kitchen surfaces including floors, walls, sinks, ovens, etc.
- Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds
- Must be able to remove hot, heavy food from oven
- Must be able to maneuver heavy loads of trays, dishes or food containers
- Ability to work in heated area (up to 110 degrees) while working around stoves and ovens and in cold areas (down to -20 degrees) in deep freeze area
