Job Description Summary:

We are currently seeking Mill, Drill and Bore Machine Specialist at Caterpillar, Inc. You will set up, operate and adjust one or more numerically controlled drilling and boring machines(with or without milling capabilities) where the feeds, speeds and cycles are fully controlled by encoded instructions.

Additional Information:

  • This is a full-time supplemental* position

  • This is a 3rd shift position, Sunday – Thursday night 11pm -7am

  • Located in East Peoria, IL (701 W. Washington St East Peoria, IL 61630)

  • Relocation assistance is not offered for this position

  • Candidates must be able to read, write and conduct business in English

  • Ability to work overtime when required

What You Will Do:

  • Execute machining operations to close tolerances on complex parts such as transmission cases, bevel gear cases, diesel engine blocks, etc.

  • Manually operating machinery, overriding encoded instructions or adjusting offsets as necessary

  • Operating on tasks like drilling, tapping, reaming, counter boring and milling

  • Executing work based on Standard Work Sheet to achieve quality products and avoid quality issues

Desired Qualifications:

  • Technical school or equal educational background in mechanical or similar discipline

  • Ability to read assembly print and knowledge of normal technical requirements such as tolerance and fit

  • Good communication skills and strong commitment to safety and teamwork

  • Ability to perform simple computer operations

  • Some machining experience in a machine shop

  • Awareness of Sort, Set, Shine, Standardize and Sustain (5S) and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM)

What You Will Get:

  • Starting wage is $26.66/hour (additional $1 shift premium for off shifts). Overtime opportunities paid, time and a half (some may be mandatory).

  • *Supplemental roles: receive some benefits, including:

  • 40 hours of paid personal time per year, prorated based on start date

  • Tax deferred retirement plan after 1,000 hours of service.
