Job Description:

Your Work Shapes the World at Caterpillar Inc.

When you join Caterpillar, you're joining a global team who cares not just about the work we do – but also about each other. We are the makers, problem solvers, and future world builders who are creating stronger, more sustainable communities. We don't just talk about progress and innovation here – we make it happen, with our customers, where we work and live. Together, we are building a better world, so we can all enjoy living in it.

Purpose: Serving as a trusted advisor to Waste industry customers, you will deliver proactive, fact-based operational and repair recommendations to CAT managed account waste customers using your experience and condition monitoring techniques. Your guidance will support asset management objectives, including optimized owning and operating expenses, enhancing equipment availability, and increasing customer satisfaction and retention for our Waste industry segment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage daily condition monitoring workload to ensure timely fulfillment of service-level commitments across multiple customer fleets.
  • Aggregate and correlate all five elements of condition monitoring (electronic data, S·O·S fluid analysis, PM Inspections, repair history and site conditions) and maintain subject matter expertise in at least three (e.g., fluids, inspections, telematics/electronic data).
  • Analyze telematics and condition monitoring data using tools such as Cat Foresight, VisionLink and S·O·S Web to identify risks, trends, and emerging failure modes.
  • Develop clear, actionable recommendations for customers and dealers, influencing equipment management strategies and planned maintenance/repair decisions.
  • Partner with CAT Fleet Monitoring Center Fleet Advisors to prepare, lead and participate in customer meetings (e.g., health summaries, open recommendations, site updates), and track recommendation status through closure.
  • Act as a trusted advisor and escalation point for complex equipment health issues, coordinating with dealers, product support, and internal stakeholders as needed.
  • Mentor, guide, coach, and support new CMAs to enhance their skills and promote consistent performance across all fleets.
  • Maintain accurate records and customer/dealer communications; identify recurring issues and contribute to process improvements and best practices within the Fleet Monitoring Center.

Skills & Experience:

  • Experience: 8–10 years in product support, maintenance/repair, reliability, or engineering roles supporting the heavy equipment waste industry customer segment.
  • Customer/consulting skills: proven ability to translate technical findings into clear recommendations, influence decisions and outcomes, and build collaborative relationships with customer and dealer stakeholders.
  • Technical capability: strong working knowledge of machine systems (engines, hydraulics, powertrain), inspection practices, repair history interpretation, and telematics/diagnostic data.
  • Education: degree in engineering, business, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
  • Tools: prior experience with Cat Foresight, VisionLink (or equivalent telematics platforms), SIS, and SOS Web (or equivalent fluid analysis portals) is highly desired.
  • Analytical rigor: ability to correlate multiple data sources, identify patterns, assess risk/urgency, and prioritize work across a high-volume fleet portfolio.
  • Leadership: demonstrated capability to coach/mentor peers, share best practices, and help drive consistent quality across the team.
