Caterpillar’s Earth Moving Division is looking for Sr. Design Engineer for Peoria, IL!
Role Summary: This role provides global factory support for current production and NPI build activities, driving toward consistent execution across all worldwide manufacturing sites. It also assists in resolving design-related questions or issues to maintain smooth operations and address emergency factory needs. Additionally, the role oversees rework and updates for the fleet of testbed, prototype, and pilot machines. The position manages NPI and build related design issues, partnering closely with system design teams to drive timely and effective resolution.
What You’ll Do (Job Duties)
- Provide global factory support for current production and NPI build activities, driving toward consistent execution across worldwide manufacturing facilities.
- Assist factory teams by resolving design‑related questions or issues to maintain smooth operations and address emergent needs.
- Translate factory feedback into actionable design improvements and communicate insights to cross‑functional engineering teams.
- Manage rework and updates for testbed, prototype, and pilot machines across the global fleet, including collaboration on parts procurement, update instructions, and shop execution.
- Own the organization and tracking of NPI‑ and build‑related design issues, partnering with system design teams to ensure timely and effective resolution.
- Utilize engineering data systems, analytics platforms, and AI‑enabled tools (e.g., Power BI, SharePoint Lists/Forms) to track issues, analyze trends, and enable data‑driven decision‑making.
- Transform How We Work by driving continuous improvement through the simplification and standardization of engineering and factory support processes, leveraging digital tools and modern ways of working to reduce waste and improve execution efficiency.
What You Have (Core Skills)

- Technical Excellence: Knowledge of a given technology and various application methods; ability to develop and provide solutions to significant technical challenges.
- Product Design - MFG: Knowledge of processes, approaches, tools and techniques of product design; ability to convert customer and market requirements into product design.
- Product Design and Development: Knowledge of product features; ability to design, build, and develop a new product, technology, or service from concept through to production.
Top Candidates Will Also Have
- System design experience, preferably within Track‑Type Tractor systems.
- Test and validation experience, ideally related to Track‑Type Tractors.
- Experience providing direct support to factory operations.
- Experience collaborating with globally distributed engineering and manufacturing teams.
- Working proficiency with data visualization and engineering data systems, including Power BI, SharePoint Lists and Forms for workflow and data management.

- This position requires 5 days per week in the office (M-F)
Summary Pay Range:
$112,710.00 - $169,060.00Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
