Job Summary:

We currently have an opening for a Product Development Engineer. In this role you will work within the aftertreatment and exhaust systems team. You will be responsible for the product development and project management of tasks related to DEF (diesel exhaust fluid) Delivery. We will challenge you to deliver projects that are primarily new product developments that span multiple application, while showing us your technical savvy and mastery of time.

As our new product development engineer, you will have the opportunity to direct and contribute to the concept and development of complex components, subsystems and processes while strengthening your analytical skills and mastery of performance concepts. You will contribute to the planning and delivery of complex and impactful projects by partnering with global teams of engineering and support professionals. We need you to be a continuous learner, to stay abreast of innovative technology and broaden your professional network. Your ability to do this will ensure that we can deliver on our promise to build a better world!

What you will do:

  • Resolve issues regarding the design or manufacturing. Ensuring design acceptance and manufacturing readiness.
  • Participate in the adoption of new technologies and processes (automation, robotics, computer aided manufacturing software, etc.) to achieve greater efficiency, cost reduction and quality improvement.
  • Plan and improve testing procedures and operations to make the test more reliable, efficient and cost effective.
  • Monitor results, machine and process capabilities and performance reliability.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Degree or equivalent experience desired.

Skills you will have:

  • Accuracy and Attention to Detail: Basic understanding the necessity and value of accuracy; ability to complete tasks with high levels of precision.
  • Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Basic understanding and knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.
  • Effective Communications: Working knowledge and understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
  • Technical Excellence: Basic understanding and knowledge of a given technology and various application methods; ability to develop and provide solutions to significant technical challenges.
  • Product Testing: Working knowledge of product testing approaches, techniques and tools; ability to design, plan and execute testing strategies and tactics to ensure product quality at all stages of manufacturing.
  • Troubleshooting Technical Problems: Working knowledge of troubleshooting approaches, tools and techniques; ability to anticipate, detect and resolve technical problems in a manufacturing or product development environment.

Top Candidates Will Have:

  • Aftertreatment experience
  • Experience with NPI process
  • Experience with CAD


Additional Information:

  • This position is located in Mossville, IL and will split time between the Tech Center and AC offices.

Summary Pay Range:

$89,210.00 - $133,810.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
