Job Summary:
As the Maintenance Manager, you’ll lead a team dedicated to keeping our production operations running smoothly and safely. Your role is all about ensuring equipment reliability, optimizing maintenance processes, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. You’ll oversee maintenance activities, guide your team, and make strategic decisions that balance cost, quality, and safety.
What You Will Do:
- Develop clear work plans for maintenance staff and contractors, and review completed work to ensure quality and compliance.
- Make informed purchasing decisions for tools and equipment and identify cost-effective solutions to improve maintenance efficiency.
- Provide ongoing training to your team on best practices, safety standards, and new maintenance techniques.
- Manage the maintenance budget, track inventory, and ensure timely replacement of worn or damaged components.
- Coach and mentor team members to build skills, boost engagement, and enhance overall effectiveness.
- Maintain strict adherence to safety procedures and regulatory standards across all maintenance activities.
Education requirement:
Candidates should possess a relevant degree or demonstrate equivalent knowledge through professional expertise.
What skills you will have:
Planning and Organizing: Hands-on experience creating and managing maintenance schedules for multiple assets or production lines. Demonstrate the ability to prioritize tasks, allocate resources effectively, and adjust plans quickly when unexpected issues arise. Familiarity with using planning tools or CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) is a plus.
Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Track record of making informed decisions in high-pressure situations, such as equipment failures or budget constraints. Experience in analyzing data, weighing risks, and selecting cost-effective solutions while maintaining safety and compliance is essential. Exposure to structured decision-making frameworks or root cause analysis methods is beneficial.
Problem Solving: Working knowledge diagnosing complex mechanical or operational issues and implementing long-term corrective actions. Comfortable using diagnostic tools, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and applying systematic approaches like 5 Whys or Fishbone diagrams. Proven success in reducing downtime or improving equipment reliability is highly valued.
Total Productive Maintenance (TPM): Experience applying TPM principles in a manufacturing or industrial setting is critical. Candidates should understand OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) metrics and have contributed to initiatives that improve equipment performance and reduce waste. Familiarity with TPM pillars such as autonomous maintenance and continuous improvement is preferred.
Additional Information:
This position requires the candidate to work onsite five days a week at the East Peoria, IL office.

Summary Pay Range:
$89,210.00 - $133,810.00Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
