Caterpillar’s Resource Industries (RI) segment includes equipment and services supporting the mining, quarry & aggregates, and heavy construction industries. In addition, RI develops and sells technology products and services to provide customers with fleet management systems, equipment management analytics and autonomous machine capabilities.

Caterpillar’s Resource Industries Sales, Services and Technology division (RISST) is seeking a dynamic and strategic financial leader to partner with the business and drive profitable growth. This Senior Director of Finance role provides financial leadership and strategic counsel for the Cat Solutions & Services (CS&S) business, with the opportunity for expanded responsibilities. This is a high growth business focused on delivering solutions to solve our customers’ problems.

The role reports to the RISST Division CFO, serves as a trusted business partner for RISST Vice Presidents and collaborates with internal business partners across Caterpillar, Dealers and Customers.

What You Will Do:

  • Be a strategic thought partner with the Cat Solutions & Services and RISST leadership teams to profitably grow the business to achieve long term goals
  • Drive effective coordination and strong collaboration with both external and internal enterprise partners including Resource Industries & Construction Industry Product Groups, Cat Financial, Technical Accounting, Dealers and Customers
  • Drive strategic decision making through comprehensive deal analysis focused on enterprise financial modeling and risk evaluation
  • Manage all aspects of accountable reporting, analysis, and strategic insights for the CS&S business
  • Ensure legal entity financial reporting integrity including compliance requirements of a strong control environment and the achievement of other financial and non-financial objectives
  • Implement new tools and analytics to continuously improve internal process and enterprise understanding of the value of solutions selling
  • Build, lead, and develop a high-performing team of finance professionals

What You Have:

  • Strategic Thinking: Knowledge of the importance of "big picture" thinking and planning; ability to apply organizational acumen and competitiveness to identify and maintain focus on key success factors for the organization. Helps navigate the organization in a dynamic competitive landscape
  • Effective Communications: Extensive experience communicating effectively to Group President, Senior VPs, Group CFO and VPs. Applying effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors. Ability to distill complex topics down to easy-to-understand messaging
  • Leadership: Knowledge of leadership practices and processes; ability to use strategies and skills to enlist others in setting, embracing and achieving objectives while having a long-term perspective of the future state of things and how to get there
  • Business Acumen: Knowledge of business concepts, tools, and processes that are needed for making sound decisions in the context of the company's business; ability to apply this knowledge appropriately to diverse situations. Knowledge and intellectual curiosity beyond just financials; ability to connect the dots across functional lines and apply to diverse business situations. Proactively evaluates potential risk and advises and provides recommendations considering risk vs. reward
  • Financial Analysis & Financial Modeling: Expert in financial analysis and financial modeling, ability to read, interpret and draw accurate conclusions from financial and numerical material. Ability to apply this knowledge appropriately to diverse situations, and explain and advocate for the organization's business model and competitive position to the enterprise and to the marketplace

Top Candidates Will Also Have:

  • Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance and/or relevant accounting, finance, business experience with a history of success and progression in previously held accounting and finance roles
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with direct customer facing commercial experience
  • Ability to build strong relationships and partner across functions to help drive the business; operates as a true business partner
  • Superior communication and influencing skills with a recognized ability to build relationships across an organization

  • This role is located in Peoria, IL with International and Domestic travel up to 20%

Summary Pay Range:

$203,670.00 - $305,510.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
