As a Datacenter Compute Architect, you will contribute to the success of Caterpillar’s state-of-the-art data center compute environment. In this role, you will be part of a team responsible for the complete lifecycle of Data Center Compute Servers and supporting infrastructure. This includes planning, creating design solutions, deploying, and monitoring to ensure the compute infrastructure operates at maximum reliability, scalability, and efficiency.
What You Will Do:
Design, document, deploy, and manage Data Center Compute solutions through all phases of lifecycle management for Dell and Cisco server equipment deployed at enterprise hosting locations and local facilities.
Support infrastructure and deployment projects across multiple regions and locations.
Partner with hardware, software, and vendor teams on the development of data center solutions.
Provide project participation, advice, and counsel to IT personnel, management, and project teams on various aspects of enterprise Data Center Compute hardware and software.
Lead in the design of IT vendor hardware to meet organizational needs.
Establish and implement global security and operational best practices and adhere to IT Controls.
Adhere to IT Service Management processes, instruction, and procedural documentation.
Work with application support teams/customers/operations/application teams to develop plans to minimize the technical and/or business impact of compute environment changes.
Monitor, troubleshoot and resolve complex problems within the enterprise Data Center Compute environment.
What You Have:
Problem Solving: Extensive knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.
Technical Troubleshooting: Extensive knowledge of technical troubleshooting approaches, tools and techniques; ability to anticipate, recognize, and resolve technical issues on Compute hardware.
Technical Excellence: Knowledge of a given technology and various application methods; ability to develop and provide solutions to significant technical challenges.
Requirements Analysis: Knowledge of tools, methods, and techniques of requirement analysis; ability to elicit, analyze and record required business functionality and non-functionality requirements to ensure the success of data center compute projects.
System Testing: Knowledge of server, system and software testing; ability to design, plan and execute system testing strategies and tactics to ensure quality at all stages of the system life cycle.
Technical Writing/Documentation: Knowledge of technical writing; ability to write technical documents such as manuals, reports, guidelines or documents on standards, processes and applications.
Top Candidates Will Also Have:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field.
10+ years designing, deploying, and operating large-scale compute infrastructure.
Experience with Dell and Cisco server/compute hardware and any other server hardware that could be relevant.
Experience designing and deploying Nvidia AI compute hardware and software.
Experience with server virtualization (VMware, Nutanix, etc.)
Strong communication, teamwork, analytical, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
Ability to communicate service interruptions is critical; management and impacted customer base must be aware of the situation and anticipated recovery time.
Experience working on multiple projects simultaneously and delivering against deadlines in a complex global environment.

Summary Pay Range:
$128,470.00 - $208,770.00Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
