Caterpillar’s Large Power Systems Division (LPSD) has an open Cost Accountant position for the Mapleton Foundry Manufacturing Plant. LPSD is comprised of large power systems and engines. The Mapleton Foundry provides many engine casting components (blocks, heads, liners, etc.) primarily to LPSD, but also supports other divisions in Caterpillar, including after market parts at PSLD.

In this role, you will be responsible for providing timely and accurate financial record keeping and reporting for the Mapleton Foundry as directed by management.

What You Will Do:

This role will be responsible for the Product Cost Monitoring function for the Mapleton Foundry and provide key analysis and reporting for the plant leadership team. This includes:

  • Participation on cost reduction projects
  • The annual normals and standard cost revision process
  • Providing actual and estimated product costs and standard costs as requested.
  • The management of a few key journal entries for closing each month, and providing reporting for results each month
  • Developing and submitting forecasts through the ABP and RBM cycles by working with plant leadership from the Supervisor level up through the Plant Manager for key accounts
  • Developing departmental level expense reporting to plant leadership at those levels, providing supporting analysis, and training/advising on business decisions.
  • Reviewing and approving Coupa PO requests online to ensure proper accounting distributions and managing vs budget.
  • Managing an Analytics COE resource to support activities listed
  • Be a trusted business partner to the Mapleton Foundry business leaders.

What You Have:

  • Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
  • Accuracy and Attention to Detail: Understanding the necessity and value of accuracy; ability to complete tasks with high levels of precision; Processes large quantities of detailed information with high levels of accuracy.
  • Analytical Thinking: Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems; Makes a systematic comparison of two or more alternative solutions.
  • Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors; Looks for and considers non-verbal cues from individuals and groups.
  • Managing Multiple Priorities: Knowledge of effective self-management practices; ability to manage multiple concurrent objectives, projects, groups, or activities, making effective judgments as to prioritizing and time allocation; Works with or leads others to re-prioritize work and reschedule commitments as necessary.
  • Problem Solving: Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations; Examines a specific problem and understands the perspective of each involved stakeholder.

  • Experience working with non-Accounting leadership on product and departmental cost reporting & management
  • Advanced skills with Excel, Powerpoint, Power BI, and Caterpillar cost systems

  • This role requires 5 days a week in office

Summary Pay Range:

$95,640.00 - $143,520.00
