Job Summary:
Our team is focused on evolving the state of the art and bringing emerging automation & autonomy technology into the harsh production environments found on typical mining and construction jobsites. As a Senior Autonomy Engineer, you’ll focus and collaborate with team members to develop new safety detect features for mining and construction machines that provide critical value to our customers. Every day you will work with your team to solve real world problems by selecting the right approach and bringing those solutions to production. What You Will Do:
- Lead systems development and testing across multiple engineering disciplines focusing on safety and performance.
- Champion functional safety (FuSa) and safety of the intended functionality (SOTIF) new designs and the associated processes to achieve them.
- Develop machine safety systems to all standards including documentation, design, coding, product quality, and validation
- Support requirements generation and architecture decisions and tradeoffs
- Collaborate with team members to execute on goals
- Define and manage system requirements and architecture documentation.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate hardware and software solutions.
- Conduct system validation through lab and field testing.
- Support camera and radar calibration, ISO compliance, and VR analysis.
- Operate HIL benches and manage tasks using Azure DevOps.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers.
Education requirement:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Robotics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field from an accredited institution.
What Skills You Will Have:
Problem Solving:
- Working knowledge in automotive, machine, or industrial embedded network communication software development fields.
- Capable of developing and executing a data acquisition plan for detect radar and camera sensors.
- Ability to execute projects and optimize development strategies based on a large repository of data
- Familiarization with core robotics principles
Software Development Life Cycle:
- Strong understanding of software engineering principles
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies and iterative development practices
- Ability to write clean, maintainable, and scalable code across the full stack
- Skilled in debugging, testing, and deploying software in production environments
Programming:
- Skilled at programming in C++
- Proficient in object-oriented design and software architecture
- Knowledgeable in real-time systems and embedded programming
- Comfortable working with version control tools like Git
Additional Information:
This position requires the candidate to work full-time (5 days a week) at the Mossville, IL office.
Relocation assistance is not available for this position.
This position may require up to 10% travel.

Summary Pay Range:
$110,520.00 - $179,640.00Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
