Job Description:

Caterpillar has an exciting leadership opportunity for our Director of Engineering for Electrical and Electronic Systems within the Advanced Power Technologies division of CAT Technology.

This Director will be responsible for overseeing the top-level execution of Engine Systems New Product Introduction (NPI) and New Technology Introduction (NTI) programs while also managing overall relationships with internal partners.

This role is focused across all three industry segments of Resource Industries, Construction Industries and Power & Energy. This leader will have direct leadership and accountability for Advance Power Technologies projects and programs (Time, Cost, & Quality).

This Director will work with market or segment partners to align strategic priorities including NTI & NPI portfolio for electrical and electronic systems. Additionally planning and executing on NPI/NTI projects per partners priorities working with the Advanced Power Technologies teams to provide components, and electrical and electronic systems.

As the leader, you will supervise teams of electronic systems and sub-systems and provide people leadership inclusive of coaching, career development, and performance management. You will also drive transparent communication with clients, peers, stakeholders, and within the team.

And finally, you will ensure design and process rigors for all projects. Projects may be executed following New Technology Introduction (NTI), New Product Introduction (NPI), or Continuous Product Improvement (CPI) processes.

Job Duties (What you will do):

  • Clearly communicate, collaborate, and build trust across a wide and diverse range of people – customers, dealers, product specialists, internal partners, engineers, direct reports, and leaders.
  • Understand product development processes – including NPI, NTI, CPI, BIQ, Aftermarket, Product Support, PPAP, APQP, etc.
  • Use demonstrated knowledge of Caterpillar’s E&T business & applications to inform and help make product decisions supporting business. needs.
  • Lead a large team globally including leaders of leaders.
  • Manage conflict resolution, negotiating, and managing teams & projects through roadblocks.
  • With extensive business acumen, manage budget $~30M R&D– including how NPI financial and product cost accounting methods work to make appropriate product/project decisions that yield good business results.
  • Excellent (clear and concise) written and verbal communication
  • Experience with project management tools and techniques.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Must have an accredited EE or ME Engineering degree with 15 or more years of experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years supervisory experience required.
  • Engine or Machine electronics systems experience desired.

Additional Details:

  • Location: Mossville, IL – in office five days a week.
  • Domestic relocation is offered for the role.
  • Sponsorship is not offered for the role.
  • Up to 25% expected travel for the role.
  • This position is eligible for stock or other equity grants pursuant to Caterpillar’s long-term incentive plan.

Summary Pay Range:

$185,400.00 - $278,160.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
