Job Description:

Your Work Shapes the World at Caterpillar Inc.

When you join Caterpillar, you're joining a global team who cares not just about the work we do – but also about each other. We are the makers, problem solvers, and future world builders who are creating stronger, more sustainable communities. We don't just talk about progress and innovation here – we make it happen, with our customers, where we work and live. Together, we are building a better world, so we can all enjoy living in it.

Cat Digital is the digital and technology arm of Caterpillar Inc., leveraging the latest technologies to build industry leading digital solutions for our customers and dealers. With over 1.5 million connected assets worldwide, our teams use data, technology, advanced analytics, telematics, and AI capabilities to help our customers build a better, more sustainable world.

Job Summary:
As a Product Owner on the VisionLink team, you’ll help shape the future of connected full-fleet management, with a focus on regulatory compliance. You’ll work at the intersection of technology, transportation, and regulation — building solutions that simplify compliance, enhance visibility, and empower fleet operators to stay ahead of the curve.

This role includes ownership of features that support mobile app experiences for drivers and operators — making sure the tools they use on the road are intuitive, reliable, and built with their real-world needs in mind. Whether it’s emissions reporting or daily vehicle checks, you’ll help deliver functionality that works where it matters most.

What You Will Do:

  • Translate customer needs into user stories that are clear, actionable, and occasionally poetic.
  • Coordinates with product development engineers to track and communicate design, development, support, and maintenance problems and solutions.
  • Identifies, documents, and reports design, reliability and maintenance problems and bugs. Gathers and consolidates feedback from customers and field staff.
  • Coordinates with field support specialists and customers to address and resolve problems and expand product usage.

What You Will Have:

  • Business Analysis: Working knowledge of business analysis and the set of tasks, techniques and tools required to identify business needs; ability to recommend solutions that deliver value to stakeholders.
  • Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Extensive experience of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.
  • Effective Communications: Extensive understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
  • User Acceptance Testing (UAT): Extensive knowledge of UAT activities, tasks, tools and techniques; ability to design, implement and evaluate acceptance tests for end-users.

Considerations For Top Candidates:

We’re looking for someone who’s ready to level up — not entry-level, but not yet leading the charge solo. To stand out, you should be able to demonstrate experience in:

  • Full-Fleet Knowledge: You’ve worked with or supported products related to commercial vehicles, fleet operations, or transportation systems.
  • Regulatory Awareness: You’ve had exposure to emissions standards, compliance reporting, or similar regulatory frameworks — and you understand why they matter.
  • Customer-Focused Problem Solving: You’ve helped translate customer needs into product features, especially in complex or regulated environments.
  • Data-Informed Decision Making: You’ve used data to guide product choices, validate assumptions, and measure success.
  • Team Collaboration: You’ve worked across disciplines to deliver solutions, and you know how to keep everyone aligned (even when the rules change mid-sprint).

If you’ve got a few wins under your belt and are excited to tackle real-world challenges in fleet compliance, we’d love to hear from you — especially if you’ve ever said, “There’s got to be a better way to do this,” and then built it.

Additional Information:

This position will have the option to be based out of our Chicago, IL; Peoria, IL or Denver, CO offices.
