Caterpillar is seeking a highly motivated and experienced team player to serve as Corporate Counsel, Data Privacy in either Peoria, Illinois or Irving, Texas. Working with a talented and supportive team, this position will interface directly with business leaders to provide specialist data privacy advice and help develop the company’s legal position and strategy on data privacy matters throughout the world. What You Will Do:
- Advise independently on a wide range of data privacy issues and privacy compliance matters
- Identify and contribute to resolution of privacy related legal issues with a broad and complex bank of risk exposure
- Work with a cross-functional team to develop and conduct risk assessments
- Review and negotiate privacy terms with clients and vendors
- Retain and manage outside counsel on data privacy matters
- Review and advise on relevant legislation, regulations, enforcements and trends
- Create and present data privacy training

Top Candidates will also have:
- Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP) accreditation
- Flexibility and eagerness to work on broad range of legal matters, including U.S. and global matters
- Excellent interpersonal skills with an absolute commitment to professionalism and collegiality
- Strong presentation skills with a calm, confident, practical and solutions-oriented approach
Degree and Experience Required:
- J.D. degree (or foreign equivalent) and membership in at least one U.S. state bar
- Relevant legal experience working on data privacy matters (including experience with GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, and other global data privacy laws), and other regulatory data compliance areas
- Experience developing practical approaches to legal challenges and providing legal advice
- Experience in supporting data privacy compliance programs, investigations, breach notification, incident management activities, Privacy by Design, and data privacy/protection impact assessments
- Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with senior level managers as well as other lawyers, both in-house and outside counsel

Summary Pay Range:
$136,320.00 - $204,480.00Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
