Summary:
The Electric Drive Development Senior Associate Engineer – Test/Validation (Root Cause and Failure Investigation) performs detail inspections of advanced drivetrain components at the Caterpillar Technical Center. This work supports new product development programs and continuous product improvement projects with the goal to determine the root cause of failures.
Electric drivetrain development is an exciting job opportunity, with continued technology expansion to new product lines. Future electric drive programs will continue to provide customers with machines that do more work and consume less fuel, while providing customers with lower owning and operating costs.
What you will do:
- Perform detail motor/gen failure investigations
- Conduct electrical checks
- Analyze test and field data
- Communicate results and conclusions
- Document findings in technical reports
Education/Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in accredited Engineering or Materials Science curriculum
- Previous electric drive product development experience (design, test, or analysis)
Skills you will have:
- Accuracy and Attention to Detail: Basic understanding the necessity and value of accuracy; ability to complete tasks with high levels of precision.
- Analytical Thinking: Working knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems.
- Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Basic knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.
- Effective Communications: Working knowledge of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
- Technical Excellence: Basic knowledge of a given technology and various application methods; ability to develop and provide solutions to significant technical challenges.
- Product Testing: Working knowledge of product testing approaches, techniques and tools; ability to design, plan and execute testing strategies and tactics to ensure product quality at all stages of manufacturing.
Top Candidates will also have
- Experience with electric drive systems and/or components
- Experience with NPI and CPI programs

Summary Pay Range:
$87,480.00 - $131,280.00Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
