Our Product Support and Logistics Division (PSLD) is one of the most innovative divisions within Caterpillar. In PSLD, as within all of Caterpillar, our priority is our customers and helping them build a better world. PSLD is responsible for the worldwide distribution of Cat aftermarket parts, integrated logistics, and global service to develop and support our global dealer network and customers.

Job Summary:

As a Quality Analyst, you are responsible for providing team leadership (non-supervisory) and analytical sample processing support for SOS Services initiatives. You will use a variety of analytical techniques and wet chemistry to process oil, fuel, and coolant samples submitted by customers. Engineers and dealers use results to manage equipment preventative maintenance schedules.

Additional Info:

  • This position is a 2nd shift role with working hours of 3:00pm - 11:30pm, Monday through Friday.

  • This position requires up to 10% of working time travel.

What You Will Do:

Quality Analyst is responsible for providing team leadership in several areas of specialization. Possible areas of specialization may include:

  • Management of employee training plans

  • ISO 9001 Quality System

  • Laboratory safety (CHP, Waste Disposal, EHS compliance)

  • High level Instrument Troubleshooting & Repair

  • Laboratory Tours

  • Daily Customer Interactions

  • Quality Metrics & Sample Billing tracking

  • Fuel Testing Support (Particle Count, Physical Tests, Oxidation Stability, Distillation, Color, % Biodiesel Pour Point & Cloud Point, Flash Point, Bacteria/Fungus Testing, Fuel Sulfur Analyzer)

  • Oil Testing Support (Particle Count Analysis, Viscosity Analysis, FTIR Analysis, Gas Chromatography, Titrate Analysis, ICP)

  • Coolant Testing Support (Physical Testing, Nitrite, pH, conductivity, RI testing, IC/HPLC)
    Sample Prep, Handling & Registration support

  • Material Inspection and Supply Receipt Support

  • Daily Instrument Validation Support (Weight Audits, daily checks)

What You Have (Required Skills):

  • Four-year degree in chemistry (or related field) or equivalent work experience

  • Quality Management: Knowledge of quality management methods, tools, and techniques and ability to create and support an environment that meets the quality goals of the organization.

  • Collaborating: Knowledge of collaborative techniques; ability to work with a variety of individuals and groups in a constructive and collaborative manner.

  • Flexibility and Adaptability: Knowledge of successful approaches and techniques for dealing with change; ability to adapt to a changing environment and be comfortable with change.

  • Problem Solving: Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.

  • Experience with various laboratory testing techniques

  • Strong analytical skills are necessary

  • Experience working in LIMS and Microsoft Office (Excel, Sharepoint, etc.)

  • Demonstrates willingness to be a leader

  • Demonstrates expertise in all SOS Services oil testing

  • Strong communication, interpersonal skills, and willingness to operate in a team environment

  • Six Sigma Green Belt, or experience leading a project

Summary Pay Range:

$79,800.00 - $119,760.00
