Job Summary:
This position provides enterprise leadership for the High Value Technical Information Protection program that is outlined by enterprise procedure (EP2:27). The Chief Technology Officer owns the enterprise procedure and delegates the task of leading enterprise compliance to this role. This involves working with each of Caterpillar’s Division’s Technical Information Protection Champions / Chief Engineers and their delegates to ensure that high value technical information assets are being managed and protected as prescribed. This position reports to the Enterprise Risk Advisor for technical information within the Ethics & Compliance Program, and as such, will also advise on technical information risk beyond this specific enterprise procedure.
What You Will Do:
- Leading the Technical Information Protection Champion Program with the various Caterpillar business units to ensure compliance with enterprise procedure.
- Providing leadership for multi-disciplined teams of business partners to execute the processes and activities driven by enterprise procedure.
- Coordinate technical information protections including segmented storage locations (High Value Vault - HVV), Data Loss Prevention (DLP), and others.
- Maintain the enterprise inventory of high value technical information assets and lead the HVV exception process throughout the enterprise.
- Respond to DLP events and provide enterprise leadership for others that review DLP events.
- Maintain a focus on Continuous Process Improvement with projects related to HVV enhancement, improved tools and processes, engineering onboarding/offboarding, and integration into other development processes.
- Conduct training and communication with Divisions, both as requested and as part of required learning, quarterly dashboards, etc.
- Lead the annual Ethics & Compliance Enterprise Technical Information Risk Evaluation process.
- Support Divisions as a Technical Information Risk Advisor. This includes the opportunity to learn principles of Intellectual Property and Intellectual Capital Management.
Education requirement:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or technology

- Oversee project execution and risk management, monitoring critical path progress and resolving variances in scope, schedule, and budget.
- Coach cross-functional teams in effective communication and planning while integrating emerging industry tools and best practices.
Team Management:
- Drive project closure and continuous improvement by capturing lessons learned and implementing feedback into future initiatives.
- Define team mission, goals, and success metrics, aligning diverse teams around shared objectives and strategic priorities.
- Foster team engagement and cohesion by leveraging individual strengths, maintaining motivation, and promoting a collaborative culture.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders and team members, ensuring transparency, alignment, and consistent progress updates.
Requirements Analysis:
- Lead requirements analysis and documentation, ensuring accuracy and completeness across all project deliverables.
- Utilize advanced tools such as prototyping, use cases, and automated diagramming to support traceability and clarity of requirements.
- Develop detailed functional and technical specifications, translating business needs into actionable models and documentation.
- Train and mentor teams on requirements walkthroughs, quality reviews, and best practices in analysis and documentation.
Additional Information:
This position requires the candidate to work onsite five days a week at the Peoria, IL office.

Summary Pay Range:
$126,000.00 - $189,000.00Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
