Job Summary:
As an Electronics System Senior Engineer with the Electrification Systems team, you will engage in the design, development, and deployment of Caterpillar Electronic Systems and Controls supporting Caterpillar industries. You will develop system designs and architecture, define strategies and controls, and work with the program lead and development team to integrate strategies into a working system that meets program needs. Significant coordination and interfacing are required across organizations to execute job responsibilities. Key focus for this position is development and validation of Caterpillar electronic products to Energy management electrification products.
What You Will Do:
- Develop and validate control system strategies and functionality
- Collaborate with internal customers and team members to develop software specifications
- Test and verify components, system, and strategy operation on benches, at test sites, and in applications
- Perform system validation of solutions and strategies to ensure 100% effectiveness
- Project schedule coordination with the team
- Diagnostic and Service Test system design
- Robust integration to ensure superior performance, durability, quality, and serviceability
- FMEA engagement and proactive risk mitigation
- NPI issue management
- Field data and diagnostic monitoring
- Controller harnessing architecture and pin out definition
Education requirement:
Bachelor’s degree in an accredited Electrical or Mechanical Engineering curriculum.

- Develops a deep working knowledge of electrification equipment operation and application features.
- Provides effective technical solutions to routine functional challenges through sound technical competence, effectively examining implications of events and issues.
- Effectively performs the technical job aspects, continuously building knowledge and keeping up to date on the latest developments.
- Applies technical operating and project standards based on achieving excellence in delivered products, technologies, and services.
- Helps others solve technical or procedural problems or issues.
Requirements Analysis:
- Plays an active or leading role in recording and storing requirement documents in various forms.
- Ensures the successful completion of all major activities, tasks, and deliverables pertaining to the requirement analysis stage.
- Produces detailed functional and information requirements models and documentation.
- Supports requirements updates and design reviews.
Technical Troubleshooting:
- Utilizes hardware and software-in-the-loop tools & methods to test embedded software for electronic machine systems.
- Applies electronic system knowledge of embedded controllers, sensors, valves, actuators, and J1939 datalink communication to ensure embedded software meets engineering requirements.
- Uses tools such as CANalyzer or Caterpillar Electronic Technician to define meaningful data patterns.
- Supports the Test Engineer in developing and executing system test plans.
- Analyzes test results and reports on findings regularly.
Top Candidates will also have:
- Background in electronic systems for machines, engines, or electrification products
- Strong technical insight with a proactive approach and customer-focused mindset
- Proficient in embedded software development and HIL simulation
- Skilled in using development and data analysis tools (e.g., CANape, CANcase, eDaq)
- Excellent organizational, communication, and collaboration abilities
Additional Information:
This position requires the candidate to work onsite five days a week at the Mossville, IL office.

Summary Pay Range:
$110,520.00 - $165,840.00Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
