Caterpillar Inc. seeks Design Engineer at its facility located at 2427 E Engine Drive, Chillicothe, Illinois 61523. Design, develop, build, and implement new components, products, or technology. Research new materials and competitive products. Organize, coordinate, and execute building, testing, and analysis of prototypes. Assist supply specialists and buyers with supplier development and supplier performance. Oversee the efforts of drafting and testing specialists. Develop and document functional requirements and translate into detailed design documents. Participate in buy-build analysis for product components. Participate in and support proposal preparation, cost estimates, and technical reports. Determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions to resolve these problems. Organize and prioritize the sequence of steps to be taken to remedy the situation. Identify possible causes for problems based on prior experience and current research. Quantify costs, benefits, risks and chances for success before recommending a course of action. Make oral presentations and write reports needed for own work. Manage multiple concurrent objectives, projects, groups, or activities, make effective judgments as to prioritizing and time allocation. Recognize changing demands and priorities. Validate changes with management. Obtain information about how current assignments contribute to organizational goals. Respond to day-to-day operational priorities while still making progress on project work. Perform at least 2-3 concurrent activities without reducing productivity. REQS: This position requires a bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent in Electrical Engineering or a related field and one year of experience as a Design Engineer or related occupation. Additionally, the applicant must have employment experience with: (1) Creo; (2) Team Center; (3) IEC/ ISO standards Canape; (4) CAN Analyzer, E; and (5) J1939. Telecommuting: 2 days/ week. Travel Requirements: up to 15% domestic and international.

Summary Pay Range:

$95,640.00 - $143,520.00
