Job summary:
As a Technical Regulatory Compliance Engineering Specialist within Caterpillar’s Product Safety and Compliance team, you will play a key role in assisting Caterpillar develop and improve products, place products on the market across the globe, and engage in the development of domestic and international engineering standards.
The primary focus of engineers on this team is the safety and compliance of Caterpillar prime products (excavators, track type tractors, trucks, motor graders, loaders, work tools, etc.) mechanical systems (hydraulics systems, pressure equipment, braking, steering, cabs and cab systems, operator protective structures, etc.) as well as service parts, aftermarket kits.
(Note: Engine emission related regulations and compliance are of scope of this role.)
What you will do:
- Become an expert in regional and global compliance and engineering standards, working directly with Caterpillar product development and support teams on New Product Introduction (NPI), Continuous Product Improvement (CPI) and New Market Introduction (NMI) projects.
- Lead projects related to interpretation and application of engineering standards, regulatory compliance, and product safety for individual product groups, product families and at the enterprise level.
- Identify and resolve critical non-compliance and market access issues.
- Engage and participate in domestic and international standards development organizations and industry associations related to Caterpillar’s family of products.
- Develop, deploy, and teach best practices.
- Establish an effective personal network internal and external to Caterpillar.
Degree Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in an accredited engineering curriculum.

- Data Gathering & Analysis: Knowledge of data gathering and analysis tools, techniques, and processes; ability to collect and synthesize data from a variety of stakeholders and sources in an objective manner to reach a conclusion, goal, or judgment.
- Risk Management: Knowledge of processes, tools and techniques for assessing and controlling an organization’s exposure to risks of various kinds; ability to apply knowledge of risk management appropriately to diverse situations.
Top Candidates will also have
- A deep familiarity with Caterpillar products, systems, and engineering processes—ideally gained through direct experience working on or with Caterpillar equipment.
- A mature engineering perspective, demonstrated through sound judgment, cross-functional collaboration, and the ability to navigate complex technical challenges with minimal oversight.
- Ability to work independently and part of a team
- Prior experience with engineering standards and/or regulatory compliance
- Experience in product development, validation or product support of prime products and/or mechanical systems.
- Prior 6 Sigma, Lean, and/or project management experience
- Experience leading complex technical projects across multiple groups or sections
- Must be fluent in English
Additional Information:
- The location for this position is in person in Peoria, IL. (Remote or Hybrid work schedule is not available for this position.)

Summary Pay Range:
$126,000.00 - $189,000.00Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
