The Product Support and Logistics Division (PSLD) is one of the most innovative divisions within Caterpillar. In PSLD, as within all of Caterpillar, our priority is our customers and helping them build a better world. We touch nearly every element of the services value stream from procurement to design and manufacturing to distribution. PSLD is responsible for Aftermarket Parts Distribution of Cat Parts, Integrated Logistics, segment Procurement and the design and manufacture of Wear Components (Undercarriage and GET) and Maintenance Components (Seals, Tubes & Hardware, Hose & Couplings, Fluids and Filters).

Job Summary

The Transportation Specialist is the solution expert for transportation processes and system solutions used globally to manage the International Parts and Components network. Key core solutions used include Transportation Management System, Visibility Solutions, Reporting and Analytics, and Integrations used globally and across multiple transportation modes and partners.

This person is responsible for ensuring that the technology solutions are operational and meeting the needs of the customers and stakeholders. In this role, one is expected to collaborate with both technical and non-technical business partners to identify and implement continuous improvements to drive value through usage of system automation and analytics while driving global standards used across the global transportation teams.

Additional Information

  • This position is located in Morton, IL and does not provide relocation

  • Travel is expected to be 5% or less with this role

What You Will Do:

  • Be part of an exciting, innovative global business solutions team deploying and supporting international transportation business solutions end to end from over 2000 suppliers to over 100 plants and parts distribution centers

  • Function as the expert of international transportation systems and processes support global operations teams, internal and external solution partners driving continuous improvement via processes, system automation and analytics

  • Ensure that the Transportation Management (TM), e2open GLO systems, Parts Viz and supporting systems are functioning effectively and supporting the end users with Transportation capabilities

  • Offer exceptional customer service while troubleshooting and resolving issues raised by customers and users

  • Work closely with a global team to ensure that the systems are configured appropriately for the specific customer requirements (with the pre-defined operational standards)

  • Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, streamline processes, drive standard work, and eliminate waste

  • Create systems processes and procedures that are dependable, error-free delivering dependable accurate outcomes for users and customers

  • Establish, train, and support internal users on the various systems

  • Initiate and follow through detailed and significantly complex job tasks in a timely manner with minimal instruction or review

What You Have (Required Skills):

  • Process Management: Knowledge of business process improvement tools and techniques; ability to understand, monitor, update, control, or enhance existing business or work processes.

  • Analytical Thinking: Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems.

  • Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.

  • Problem Solving: Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.

  • Relationship Management: Knowledge of relationship management techniques; ability to establish and maintain healthy working relationships with clients, vendors, and peers.

  • Progressively responsible transportation or supply chain / logistics experience

  • Experience in solutioning design, prototyping, and configuration of process workstreams

  • Project management experience leading multi-functional teams

  • Ability to build consensus across multiple functional areas

  • Strong presentation and communication skills

What Will Set You Apart (Preferred Skills):

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Logistics or Supply Chain

  • Transportation knowledge and experience transporting materials and goods to and from suppliers, distribution centers, manufacturing facilities and customers the manufacturing facility.

  • Logistics Management: Knowledge of the processes, tools and operational considerations for effective and efficient movement of goods and materials; ability to understand, predict and control the movement of goods, materials and supplies.

  • Supply Chain Management: Knowledge of functions, principles and techniques used in supply chain management; ability to develop and implement strategies, practices and tools for controlling the whole processes.

  • Experience with Blue Yonder TMS, e2open GLO

  • Strong knowledge of Snowflake, SQL, EDI/API, PowerBI

  • 6 Sigma/Lean Experience

Summary Pay Range:

$110,520.00 - $165,840.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
