Caterpillar’s Construction Industries Services Division (CISD) is hiring a Strategy Manager. Reporting directly to the VP of Sales & Marketing, the Strategy Manager plays a critical role in the success of the collective department driving key strategic initiatives and actions across CISD and across the enterprise.
Role Summary: This role relies on effective networking and exceptional interpersonal skills, as there is significant interdependency across Caterpillar with key business partners including CISD (all departments), Distribution Services Division, Cat Digital and Cat Financial. The Strategy Manager is diligently focused on delivery and execution, relying on their strategic perspective to assure the most relevant outcome and impact to drive sales growth for the Americas. The position often confronts complex issues or problems, which require careful analysis and diagnosis. Problems are often unique, and solutions can require non-traditional approaches. You will establish and then monitor general policies and guidelines for projects under your control to ensure specific management goals are met, and desired results are achieved. The position serves as an advisor/consultant to the Vice President.
What You’ll Do
Leading strategy development to improve results for department and division positively impacting sales growth for the Americas
Leading strategy and on-going support for the 3 Construction Industries Services Division (CISD) key initiatives
Leading CISD Americas 4DX execution
Coordinating and developing annual business plan and department expense budgets and results and coordinates rolling business management with Business Resources
Managing metrics, dashboards and supporting management tools in place to monitor performance and develop processes to ensure rigorous data governance to maintain data integrity standards
Planning and directing all CISD Americas projects viewed as critical to department and the enterprise including a standardized process to ensure alignment across the division and beyond
Exceptional networking skills, being accessible, responsive and focused on delivery and execution
Organize and facilitate leadership meetings, ensuring clear action items and timely follow-up
Provide strategic guidance to division Vice President, often leading (or co-leading) strategic initiatives that are outside of functional groups
Attending and presenting at various executive/department meetings to keep a pulse on the business and help connect the dots with others across the company
What You Have (Core Skills)
Data Gathering & Analysis: Extensive experience with data gathering and analysis tools, techniques, and processes; ability to collect and synthesize data from a variety of stakeholders and sources in an objective manner to reach a conclusion, goal, or judgment
Decision Making & Critical Thinking: Extensive experience accurately analyzing situations and reaching productive decisions based on informed judgment
Effective Communications: Ability to distill high level communication into meaningful context and actions
Relationship Management: Extensive experience establishing and maintaining healthy working relationships with clients, vendors, and peers
Strategic Thinking: Extensive experience with "big picture" thinking and planning; ability to apply organizational acumen and competitiveness to identify and maintain focus on key success factors for the organization
Top Candidates Will Also Have:
Advanced business degree
Experience across a large enterprise including dealer facing/field roles
Exceptional organizational, analytical and project management skills
The ability to manage ambiguity, work autonomously, and multi-task in an agile and fast-paced environment
Consistently meets ambitious deadlines and delivers high-quality work on schedule
Positive and can-do attitude and approach to work
Strong facilitation skills

This position is currently a hybrid in-office work model, requiring a 3-day weekly office presence. However, work arrangements may be adjusted at any time based on business needs
Summary Pay Range:
$156,000.00 - $234,000.00Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
