The Product Support and Logistics Division (PSLD) is one of the most innovative divisions within Caterpillar. In PSLD, as within all of Caterpillar, our priority is our customers and helping them build a better world. We touch nearly every element of the services value stream from procurement to design and manufacturing to distribution. PSLD is responsible for Aftermarket Parts Distribution of Cat Parts, Integrated Logistics, segment Procurement and the design and manufacture of Wear Components (Undercarriage and GET) and Maintenance Components (Seals, Tubes & Hardware, Hose & Couplings, Fluids and Filters).
As the Manager, Logistics for the Morton Distribution Center you will be responsible for developing and leading a highly proficient support team providing systems and reporting expertise and governance to support execution, visibility, education, and continuous improvement for Morton Operations. The Manager, Logistics leads a high performing team of six (6) salaried Supply Chain Planning and Distribution Logistics Engineer’s and Analyst’s. The Morton Distribution Center plays a key role in support of Caterpillar customers worldwide as one of the largest Caterpillar Distribution Centers. The Morton DC support our dealers through the Parts Distribution network by getting parts to our customers as quickly, efficiently, and safely as possible. Our goal is to get the right part to the right place at the right time. The Morton DC covers a wide variety of areas from demand planning and inventory management to dealer order support and receiving, storage, and shipping operations.

What You Will Do:
- Oversee a team that provides regional SAP Extended Warehouse Management (EWM) support, ranging from support of new process development and implementation to troubleshooting and helpdesk-related support.
- Support regional reporting design, maintenance, and improvements, working with operational customers to understand business needs and working with team to design and implement reporting solutions.
- Own and maintain a governance structure around proposed changes or improvements.
- Develop and implement educational initiatives to improve systematic knowledge and expertise and provide professional development for the Morton Operations team.
- Ensure that proper review and approval processes are in place to govern systems access and manage risk and compliance.
- Other duties as assigned by Caterpillar management from time-to-time.
What You Have (Basic Qualifications):
- Project Management: Knowledge of effective project management strategies and tactics; ability to plan, organize, monitor, and control projects, ensuring efficient utilization of technical and administrative resources to achieve project objectives.
- Utilizes preferred tools, techniques and methods for estimating project cost and time.
- Plans, estimates, staffs, organizes and monitors significant projects.
- Identifies risks and vulnerabilities; creates contingency plans.
- Conducts regular and ad-hoc project reviews with project team, sponsors, and clients.
- Maintains open communication among project participants and interested parties.
- Communicates reporting requirements; creates monitoring and control mechanisms.
- Distribution Center Management: Knowledge of distribution processes, issues and considerations; ability to effectively manage the receipt, storage, and distribution of inventory to stores and/or customers.
- Participates in distribution network analysis and network modeling activities.
- Manages all aspects of one or more distribution centers.
- Continues to mechanize distribution center activities.
- Explains and walks through a complete distribution center network; participates in design.
- Assesses alternative distribution designs and considerations for demand and source locations.
- Implements tools for sharing inventory and distribution information with other computer systems.
- Inventory Management: Knowledge of processes and methods of inventory management; ability to effectively manage organization's materials, commodities, merchandises, or products.
- Warehouse Management: Knowledge of the policies, processes and systems of warehouse management; ability to effectively manage one or more warehouses or distribution centers.
- Maintains warehouse equipment and facilities.
- Performs basic warehousing activities such as receiving, putting away, picking, packing and shipping merchandise.
- Analyzes and documents key performance indicators of warehouse management in own area.
- Assists in implementing mechanization approaches and techniques in a distribution center.
- Collects and translates the business requirements for specifications of warehouse management systems.
- Logistics Management: Knowledge of the processes, tools and operational considerations for effective and efficient movement of goods and materials; ability to understand, predict and control the movement of goods, materials and supplies.
- Develops and analyzes logistics plans that affect production, distribution, and inventory.
- Manages logistics processes through process improvement, prioritization, and project planning.
- Implements and maintains monitoring systems to provide information on shipment status, shipped date, in transit location, estimated arrival date, and actual delivery date.
- Works with historical, legislative and practical issues associated with domestic freight.
- Participates in contract negotiations and interfaces with selected carriers necessary to maintain expected levels of service.
- Consults on all major logistics processes, their interactions and operational requirements.
- Supply Chain Management: Knowledge of functions, principles and techniques used in supply chain management; ability to develop and implement strategies, practices and tools for controlling the whole processes.
- Recognizes software systems or components used to manage supply chain.
- Participates in supply chain analysis and uses it to spot trends and improvement opportunities.
- Discusses considerations for integrating partner and supplier transactions.
- Summarizes supply chain considerations for different types of products.
- Works with a specific part of supply chain management process.
What Will Set You Apart (Preferred Qualifications):
- Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Operations, Supply, Logistics, or related field.
- Previous experience leading a team of salaried Supply Chain/Distribution Center professionals.
- Previous experience with SAP Extended Warehouse Management (EWM).
- Previous Project Management or Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification.
- Previous Lean Operations/Continuous Improvement experience.
- Previous experience with Microsoft Power BI or similar reporting background.
- Previous experience collaborating with cross-functional global teams and working to resolve complex problems within a global Logistics/Supply Chain or Distribution Center environment.

Summary Pay Range:
$126,000.00 - $189,000.00Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
