Job Summary:

Caterpillar’s Resource Industries Operations & Products (RIOP) division is seeking a highly skilled Supply Chain Planning Engineer to join our team at the East Peoria Facility. This position will ensure strong alignment between product value stream teams and end-to-end supply chains, focusing on optimizing process planning and execution to meet or exceed customer order-to-delivery requirements. You will also contribute to enhancing the business’s Operating Profit after Capital Charge (OPACC) while supporting the integration of automation and RFID technology into key supply chain functions. Additionally, you will be involved in the development and execution of supply chain network improvement initiatives, including process transformation, inventory management, logistics, and overall supply chain cost optimization. What You Will Do:

  • Value Stream Network Modeling & Optimization: Lead detailed modeling and optimization of value streams to improve performance, including leveraging ERP-driven processes and automation where appropriate.
  • Supply Chain Process Optimization: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance supply chain processes, utilizing automation and RFID technology to increase efficiency and visibility.
  • OIA Opportunity Identification: Identify opportunities for OPACC improvement, including the application of technology to streamline operations, address gaps in supply chain models, and improve data accuracy.
  • ERP & Process Improvement: Support process improvement efforts by optimizing ERP systems to streamline workflows and incorporate automated solutions that align with the company’s objectives.
  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Use data-driven insights and ERP systems to inform decision-making, ensuring continuous improvement in key supply chain areas.
  • Network Modeling Expertise: Maintain strong expertise in network modeling techniques and integrate automation and RFID as appropriate to enhance supply chain planning and execution.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with logistics, manufacturing, and other supply chain teams to ensure alignment with customer Order-to-Delivery requirements and improve overall operational efficiency.
  • Continuous Improvement: Contribute to initiatives that enhance overall supply chain performance, including quality, and material availability.

Education requirement:

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent qualifications desired.

What skills you will have:

Project Management:

  • Successfully led value stream modeling projects that optimized operational efficiency and exceeded customer order-to-delivery requirements.
  • Coordinated cross-functional teams to implement ERP-driven solutions, ensuring timely execution within budget.
  • Developed and managed project plans that streamlined supply chain workflows, contributing to overall cost reduction.

Logistics Management:

  • Managed supply chain operations, including warehouse optimization and inventory management, to align with customer demands and company objectives.
  • Implemented logistics solutions to minimize lead times while improving material availability and visibility across the supply chain.
  • Directed efforts to enhance dock operations and forklift utilization, increasing throughput and reducing inefficiencies.

Problem Solving:

  • Identified process bottlenecks using data-driven insights, resulting in a measurable increase in order fulfillment accuracy.
  • Resolved supply chain disruptions by applying root cause analysis and leveraging cross-functional collaboration.
  • Innovated solutions to improve alignment between ERP processes and on-the-ground supply chain execution.

Supply Chain Management - MFG:

  • Enhanced supply chain planning processes by integrating advanced automation and RFID technology to improve real-time visibility.
  • Collaborated with manufacturing and logistics teams to optimize end-to-end supply chain performance and meet customer requirements.
  • Designed and executed process transformations that streamlined workflows, achieving significant efficiency improvements.

Decision-Making and Critical Thinking:

  • Utilized ERP systems and advanced data analytics to inform strategic decisions that improved key supply chain metrics.
  • Applied critical thinking to evaluate and address gaps in supply chain processes, resulting in improved accuracy and compliance.
  • Led initiatives to align decision-making frameworks with organizational goals, driving continuous improvement in cost and performance.

Top Candidates will also have:

  • Working knowledge with SAP Mach1
  • Advanced Degree in Operations Research, Engineering, Value Stream, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain, management, or related quantitative field
  • Ability to ramp up quickly within a new environment
  • APICS CSCP National Certification
  • Previous Working knowledge with data visualization software like PowerBI
  • NPI and value chain transformation knowledge
  • Excellent communication and data visualization skills
  • Demonstrated financial acumen
  • Strong customer focus and ability to influence

Additional Information:

The location for this position is East Peoria, IL

This position requires onsite attendance five days per week.

Domestic relocation assistance is NOT available for this position.

This position will require 10% travel.

Summary Pay Range:

$110,520.00 - $165,840.00
