The Strategy Manager will be responsible for developing and supporting strategic initiatives for the Earthmoving Division. This role will interface directly with leadership across the organization in order to help execute the Earthmoving Division strategy.

Caterpillar's Earthmoving Division (part of the Construction Industries Segment) is responsible for the worldwide design, manufacturing and support responsibility for medium tractor products, motor graders, medium wheel loaders, paving products, and SEM-branded product lines.

Responsibilities

  • Leads analyses and solution development for key initiatives as a divisional lead or for the business segment.
  • Works closely with business partners to define the business problem, issues and planned approach for one or more engagements as a divisional lead for the business.
  • Oversees performance of data collection, research and reporting activities and ss a divisional lead or for a business segment. Coaches junior team members and business partners.
  • Provides recommended solutions. Works with senior consultants / managers to develop and deliver business insights as a divisional lead or for the business.

Knowledge of stakeholder management techniques; ability to systematically identify stakeholders, analyze their needs and expectations, and implement various tasks to engage with them.

  • Evaluates stakeholder profiles, roles, claims and interests in an organization and how these may conflict.

  • Works with client to identify alternative solutions and associated pro's and con's.
  • Prepares proposals and presentations for a consulting opportunity.
  • Manages all aspects and phases of a consulting relationship.
  • Monitors consulting assignments versus expectations.

Planning:

Tactical, Strategic: Knowledge of effective planning techniques and ability to contribute to operational (short term), tactical (1-2 years) and strategic (3-5 years) planning in support of the overall business plan.

  • Develops, refines, and communicates tactical plans for own responsibilities.
  • Provides the right level of detail as input for strategic plan development.
  • Demonstrates the value and necessity of linking tactical plans to overall strategic plan.
  • Ensures attention to the detail and dependencies of existing departmental-level plans.
  • Plans for allocation of resources in line with unit goals, technical and business objectives.
  • Ensures the planning process is integrated with the overall business plan.

  • Caterpillar operates in a hybrid work environment, requiring a minimum of 3 days per week of onsite, in office work.
