We have an exciting position open within Caterpillar seeking a Senior Accounting Analyst to join our team supporting the Track-type Tractor manufacturing facility in East Peoria, Illinois as part of the Resource Industries Operations and Products (RIOP) division at Caterpillar.

In this role you will regularly use your strong business judgement & robust problem-solving abilities to help functional leaders drive value through the enterprise. This position will be regularly exposed to a variety of accounting functions, accomplish a high level of complex and/or technical analysis, and make business decisions and recommendations as appropriate. This role will also encourage you to demonstrate and develop your communication and presentation skills, along with providing avenues to interact regularly with facility & Resource Industries Finance management.

What You Will Do:

  • Oversee financial analysis to evaluate facility performance and provide accountability
  • Lead the financial planning and analysis of several functional organizations within the facility
  • Provide actionable & strategic insights through the analysis of business financial results
  • Oversee & complete Investment analysis (Discounted Cash Flow) and provide financial guidance on exciting facility agenda items
  • Participate in strategy facilitation to drive improved financial and operational performance and facilitate strategic business unit planning for upper-level management
  • Lead the tracking & accountability of facility OPACC Improvement Agenda (OIA)
  • Support/Lead projects around sustainable cost reduction through partnering with our business
  • Help develop the best team as a team lead/mentor for onsite team and of overseas center of excellence (COE) team members through coaching

What You Have:

  • Education Experience: 4-year degree, preferably in accounting, finance or business-related degree; 4+ years of job-related experience
  • Analytical Thinking: Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems.
  • Decision Making & Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.
  • Financial Analysis: Knowledge of tools and approaches of financial analysis; ability to read, interpret and draw accurate conclusions from financial and numerical material.
  • Managing Multiple Priorities: Knowledge of effective self-management practices; ability to manage multiple concurrent objectives, projects, groups, or activities, making effective judgments as to prioritizing and time
  • Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.

Top Candidates Will Also Have:

  • Professional Certification: Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA), or equivalent
  • MBA, master’s degree in accounting, or equivalent
  • SAP experience
  • Prior experience with or willingness to learn new tools such as Alteryx, Axiom, Power BI, Tableau, etc

  • This position will be located in our East Peoria, IL office
  • This role is a full time, Hybrid position and currently requires 3 days a week in office
