The Product Support and Logistics Division (PSLD) is one of the most innovative divisions within Caterpillar. In PSLD, as within all of Caterpillar, our priority is our customers and helping them build a better world. We touch nearly every element of the services value stream from procurement to design and manufacturing to distribution. PSLD is responsible for Aftermarket Parts Distribution of Cat Parts, Integrated Logistics, segment Procurement and the design and manufacture of Wear Components (Undercarriage and GET) and Maintenance Components (Seals, Tubes & Hardware, Hose & Couplings, Fluids and Filters).
Job Summary
As a Design Engineer, you will have responsibility for linkage pin and bearing components used in Caterpillar machine linkage systems. This role will enable the development of key leadership skills to build strong and strategic relationships with both machine business unit process partners and strategic suppliers. You will collaborate to provide technical guidance to global teams while strengthening your analytical skills and mastery of engineering concepts. This role will contribute to the planning and delivery of projects associated with New Technology Introduction (NTI), New Product Introduction (NPI), Continuous Product Improvement (CPI), Manufacturing, Supply Chain and Enterprise Strategic Initiatives. Finally, this role will allow you to stay abreast of innovative technology and broaden your professional network.

This position is located in Mossville, IL and does not offer relocation
What You Will Do
Design ownership for cartridge pin and linkage pin assemblies
Development and maintenance of engineering design guides for linkage pin systems
Creation of tools to drive best practices in component design and selection
Maintaining relationships with machine teams to assist in the design of linkage pin systems to support NPI, CPI, and cost reduction activities.
Research and development of new technology including designs, materials, heat treatment, or coatings that could deliver differentiation to linkage pin and bearing systems.
Contribute to the planning and execution of validation and competitive benchmarking activities.
Communicate status and results to process partners, suppliers, and team members.
What You Have
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
Analytical Thinking: Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems.
Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
Technical Excellence: Knowledge of a given technology and various application methods; ability to develop and provide solutions to significant technical challenges.
Managing Multiple Priorities: Knowledge of effective self-management practices; ability to manage multiple concurrent objectives, projects, groups, or activities, making effective judgments as to prioritizing and time allocation.
Product Design and Development: Knowledge of product features; ability to design, build, and develop a new product, technology, or service from concept through to production.
What Will Set You Apart
Design, development, or analysis experience related to components.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Experience with Creo and TeamCenter.
Experience with engineering drawings and geometric tolerancing.
Mechanical aptitude and general understanding of manufacturing processes.
Material science, metallurgy, welding, or tribology experience.
Project management skills – develop, maintain, and execute a project plan.
