Performance Engineer
Mossville, IL – Tech Center – L
As a member of the Power Systems and Controls Development team within Large Power Systems Division (LPSD), you will serve as an experienced engineer on complex and exciting projects. You will be an integral part of the development and continuous improvement of Caterpillar’s C175 engines that are utilized in the Electric Power, Mining, and Rail industries.
As a C175 Performance Engineer, you will have the opportunity to both be a technical individual contributor as well as lead engine performance projects. Technical responsibilities include, but are not limited to, data mining, emissions, and performance analysis, and 1D engine simulation. Project leadership functions include test planning, customer support, and collaboration across engineering teams. Projects will span various phases of product life from concept to postproduction.
As a Performance Engineer you will be expected to ensure engineering activities are on schedule and to provide regular updates to management and technical leadership. Documentation of work accomplished, along with stakeholder updates, will be required on completion of projects. This role will require developing strong peer relationships and collaborate with global teams.
What you will do:
- Perform complex analysis work, identify, and solve challenging problems.
- Conduct 1-D Destiny simulation for recipe selection and ambient capability.
- Create and deliver technical reports.
- Communicate technical information to customers and internal technical leadership and management.
- Mentor and train new engineers on processes/procedures for engine development.
- Collaborate with a global team across multiple functional areas.
- Perform work in accordance with ISO 17025 processes.
Degree Requirement:
- Bachelor’s degree in accredited engineering curriculum
Top Candidates Will Also Have:
- Diesel engine product development experience
- Project/technical leadership experience
- 1-D or 3-D engine performance simulation experience
- Excellent analytical skills
- Self-starter with high accountability
- The ability to contribute on multiple projects simultaneously and to make sound priority decisions.
