The Senior Manager – Competitive Intelligence is responsible for leading competitive research and analysis, including financial benchmarking. Deliver value added perspective to the segments and product groups through expertise on the competitive landscape and providing insights into competitors’ strategies, including integration with the OPACC Improvement Agendas and the O&E Model.
What You Will Do:
Reporting to Director of Competitive Intelligence, position is primarily responsible for the following:
- Provide insight and perspective, leveraging enterprise expertise on key competitors and their strategies, investments, and advances in technology and solutions for customers.
- Leading research on specific topics and markets and reporting on the competitive environment
- Maintaining and utilizing networks of people and resources for obtaining and disseminating competitive information
- Identify potential Competitors Responses - what are the competitive opportunities, risks and potential responses to our current digital / solutions strategy?
- Determine need and perform deep dives required on significant competitive position gaps
What You Have:
- Business Analysis: Knowledge of business analysis and the set of tasks, techniques and tools required to identify business needs; ability to recommend solutions that deliver value to stakeholders.
- Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.
- Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
- Interpersonal Relationships: Knowledge of the techniques and the ability to work with a variety of individuals and groups in a constructive and collaborative manner.
- Financial Analysis: Knowledge of tools and approaches of financial analysis; ability to read, interpret and draw accurate conclusions from financial and numerical material.
- Competitive Environment: Knowledge of business market concepts and principles; ability to utilize the processes, tools and techniques for gathering, analyzing, and communicating information about the competitive environment.
- Market Research: Knowledge of market research; ability to collect, collate and analyze information about existing or potential markets and market needs.
Top Candidates Will Have:
- Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, and/or finance related field
- Significant Caterpillar O&E model / strategy related experience, particularly as it relates to dealer interaction with customers and customer use of technology.
Top Candidates Will Also Have:
- Masters of Business Administration MBA or CPA or CMA or CFA
- Strong, fact and data-based analytical skills –also comfortable working with ambiguous data sets
- Strong written and oral communications skills, ability to crisply and concisely convey complex information, including the development of presentations for executive management
- Strong teamwork skills and the ability to successfully work cross-functionally in a matrix organization, ability to achieve results through influence, ability to work with and communicate effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization
