The Product Support and Logistics Division (PSLD) is one of the most innovative divisions within Caterpillar. In PSLD, as within all of Caterpillar, our priority is our customers and helping them build a better world. We touch nearly every element of the services value stream from procurement to design and manufacturing to distribution. PSLD is responsible for Aftermarket Parts Distribution of Cat Parts, Integrated Logistics, segment Procurement and the design and manufacture of Wear Components (Undercarriage and GET) and Maintenance Components (Seals, Tubes & Hardware, Hose & Couplings, Fluids and Filters).
Job Summary
As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will assist technical services management by performing technical analysis of manufacturing processes, systems, heat treat, N/C programming, cellular manufacturing, etc. to permit effective management decisions.
Additional Information
This position is located in Mapleton, IL and does not provide relocation
This position requires 10% or less travel
What You Will Do
Analyzes and recommends current and future systems, procedures, training and equipment needs based upon understanding and communication with users
Determines acceptability of new equipment based on usage requirements and recommends modification or revision as necessary
Provides analysis and recommendations needed to allow manufacturing to produce the engineering product designs
Provides effective communication and services in solving production problems or pursuing operations improvements
Simulates present and future machine lines and cells to predict line flow problems and makes recommendations for implementation
Conducts investigation to assist in resolving heat treat mechanical and technical problems
Performs quality checks on equipment, fluids, etc. used in heat treat operations and coordinates heat treat start up and shut down procedures before and after extended shut down periods
Adheres to established standards, policies and practices relating to quality, cost reduction, safety, ergonomics, etc. in performing assigned duties
What You Have
Manufacturing Safety: Extensive knowledge of manufacturing safety; ability to identify work-related hazards and perform necessary activities to meet regulatory requirements for the safety and protection of workers, environment and site.
Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Working knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.
Manufacturing Equipment: Working knowledge of the electrical, mechanical and logistics equipment used in manufacturing; ability to safely operate, maintain, update and store them.
Manufacturing Processes: Working knowledge of existing product manufacturing methods, technologies and processes; ability to execute, plan, manage and monitor the entire manufacturing process.
What Will Set You Apart
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
Participation in American Foundry Association (AFS) and/or Foundry Education Foundation (FEF)
Prior experience with PowerBi
Prior experience working in a foundry manufacturing environment
Problem Management Process - MFG: Knowledge of manufacturing problem management processes, methodologies and techniques; ability to use a disciplined approach to bringing that problem to a successful resolution.
