Job Summary
As an Accountant at Caterpillar, you will provide technical expertise and perform complex accounting work that supports business processes. This position is an excellent opportunity to learn more about Global Aftermarket Parts Division related to the Departments and projects that support our Services Initiatives.
What You Will Do:
- Departmental Expense accounting, Capital, SOX Compliance.
- Continuous improvement of existing reporting tools, such as Axiom/Snowflake & Power BI.
- Internal Management Accounting, such as actual results, quarterly forecasting, and annual business planning.
- Analysis of Departmental results at a granular level to support reporting needs.
- Estimating various forecast and budget scenarios as needed based on changing business conditions.
- Financial accounting including consolidation of division results/explanations.
- Presentation and explanation of results to management.
- Participate and lead teams addressing complex issues.
- Demonstrate knowledge and ability to handle accounting issues independently.
- Ad hoc requests as needed.
What You Have:
- Education/Experience: This position typically requires a Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, finance, or business-related degree and 2+ years of job related experience.
- Accuracy and Attention to Detail: Understanding the necessity and value of accuracy; ability to complete tasks with high levels of precision.
- Analytical Thinking: Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems.
- Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
- Managing Multiple Priorities: Knowledge of effective self-management practices; ability to manage multiple concurrent objectives, projects, groups, or activities, making effective judgments as to prioritizing and time allocation.
- Problem Solving: Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.
Top Candidates Will Also Have:
- Must have proven record of strong initiative, leadership, accountability and effective communication skills.
- Demonstrate very good analytical skills and proficiency when interpreting large amounts of data.
- Demonstrate initiative, leadership, good judgment and accountability.
- Demonstrate intellectual curiosity.
- Demonstrate very good communication skills and have a comprehensive knowledge of Caterpillar businesses, products, suppliers and customers.
- Strong business acumen is desired along with familiarity with systems such as Excel, Power BI, Axiom/Snowflake.
- Professional Certification (Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA) or equivalent).
