We are looking for a dynamic, organized self-starter to join our Product Support and Logistics Division as a Sr. Design Engineer in Mossville, IL.

The Product Support and Logistics Division (PSLD) is one of the most innovative divisions within Caterpillar. PSLD is responsible for Aftermarket Parts Distribution of Cat Parts, Integrated Logistics, segment Procurement and the design and manufacture of Wear Components (Undercarriage and GET) and Maintenance Components (Seals, Tubes & Hardware, Hose & Couplings, Fluids and Filters).

About The Team:
Join our dynamic Air Filter Engineering (AFE) team as a Senior Design Engineer, playing a pivotal role in developing cutting-edge air filtration solutions. The individual will be a design control owner of Air Filters and work in the capacity of a team leader of the AFE team. We are seeking a skilled professional to lead technical initiatives, collaborate with strategic suppliers, and contribute to the creation of innovative products that set industry standards.

Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

• Lead multiple concurrent New Product Introduction (NPI) projects, driving them from concept to production

• Inspiring and guiding the team with sense of urgency and carry proactive approach on projects

• Develop project plans to achieve defined goals, utilizing strong analytical skills to identify and solve technical challenges

• Organize and manage project-related information for efficient access by project teams

• Conduct and Lead Design Reviews, ensuring superior performance, durability, quality, and serviceability of products

• Provide air filter technical leadership and support to cross-functional teams, including Manufacturing, Quality, Purchasing, Marketing, Sales, and Service

• Actively lead and participate in refining and enhancing product designs through investigations and innovative solutions

• Maintain open communication with internal and external stakeholders, including Customers, Cat Dealers, Service Providers, and Suppliers throughout the product development process

• Foster a collaborative team environment and drive a culture of continuous improvement, implementing best practices in design, validation, and project execution

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Manufacturing, or Materials Science

• 6+ years of relevant experience, encompassing engineering, quality, manufacturing, or customer experience

• Prior experience in product design and validation, with a focus on engines and off-road heavy machinery

Top Candidates will also have:

• Strong problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude with proven experience in leading large NPI (New Product Introduction) projects

• Excellent analytical skills with a track record in the development of earthmoving equipment, engines, transmissions, drivetrain, or hydraulic systems

• Previous experience in product development, showcasing design and validation expertise

• Demonstrated project planning and execution experience, working seamlessly with large Tier 1 suppliers
